Sub-par. There isnt really anything here that is bad per say, its just that nothing here tastes great either. My steak was okay, my salad was okay (fresh though), the mac and cheese is okayish.
Except the Oyster “Stew”. Its not a stew, its just a few oysters in a bowl of milk and butter, and its gross.
Just go to tmTexas Roadhouse or something, there ar eplaces with better food.

I ordered a deluxe BLT and the sandwich is completely burnt all the way through. Called the manager and said nothing they can do. Extremely disappointed and will not be going back. I recommend taking your business elsewhere.

My husband and I just had the worst experience here. While the food was ok, the service (server) was terrible. To top it all off, my husband asked for a to go box. Our server brought it back, but then immediately started taking the plates off the table. She placed plates on top of the plate in front of my husband. My husband was like, whoa, the box you just gave me was to put my food in. She was apologetic and stated she was going to have his shrimp remade. We waited for about an additional 20 minutes. She returned and was like, I had you new shrimp dropped and packed up. Once again she apologized. When we got outside to the truck, my husband opened the box up and lo and behold. It was the same shrimp she took away that had the plates and trash on top of it. How did we know? My husband had put tobasco sauce on his shrimp. You could see and smell it on the shrimp and hush puppies. She took the old dirty food off the plate, packed it up, made us wait and then tried to pass it off as a new order of fried shrimp which is ludicrous. After the horrible service we received, she still got a 20% tip. I wish we could take it back. My husband did go back inside to speak with the manager to let him know what had happened. My husband works in the lot next door and frequents this location often for lunch. He said he’ll never return. On a positive note, my blackened salmon was delicious even though I didn’t receive the sides I ordered. I received green beans and mac and cheese. I ordered Brunswick stew and a baked potato. The green beans I didn’t order, but received were delicious as well.

I am in the area attending a professional course and stopped for a quick lunch. I ordered the sweet tea, crab stew,and sweet potato fries. The sweet tea was the perfect balance of sugar, given that the ice will dilute it. My crab stew was not hot and was a little salty. The oyster crackers helped balance the flavor out. The fries were also not hot. This was a disappointment. Service was good. My server was polite and attentive.

I have eaten here all of my life. The food isn’t the best, but it’s very fair for the price. I have never received bad service at any Carey Hilliard’s I’ve eaten at. The interior could use a refresh, but it’s not the worst place to eat. It’s great for after religious services or during the week for lunch. Like I said, I doubt they ever win a Michelin star, but the food quality for the price point can’t be beat. I don’t know if a single sit down restaurant around where you can get a decent meal at that price point, and that’s what I really appreciate about Carey Hilliard’s.

We dined in at this location and the food was somewhat disappointing. Food did not taste completely fresh, my fried oysters tasted either frozen or just cooked in old grease. My crab cake was definitely old and not tasty. I will admit the Mac and Cheese was good and the Potato Salad tasted pretty good! Cheese sticks also were not tasty. I do give credit to the staff they were very friendly and were very quick to handle any concerns.

Stopped before trying to fly out. 35 minutes in and no food. Kitchen apparently cooked a different meal than what waitress entered. 45 minutes in and only got an appetizer and salad. They boxed up child’s corrected meal as we were leaving. Even for a rush order, fries were cold.
This location could use an update or at least a deep clean where the tables hit the walls.
I think the seafood can come out decent, but this is a place more for good ole locals, even on its best day.

Our waitress was very friendly however several side dishes did not come out with meal after several request by our party and the waitress. Kitchen did not have food prepared in a timely manner. Lettuce in shrimp salad was brown and wilted. Manager was very rude to her staff in front of customers. Waitress did get a new salad and apologized for the inconvenience. Eventually everyone got their meals. This restaurant has really gone down hill. I dont believe we will be going back to this location.

All around very happy with the service and the taste of the food…the Brunswick Stew, Pulled Pork and the Fried Chicken was fresh and delicious. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Would recommend to friends and family.

Welcomed into this location, and the service was so warm and prompt!! Billy was the server, and he was so attentive and always asked if we needed anything extra! My brother and I had the Full rack St. Louis ribs and chopped pulled pork and both were flavorful and satisfying portions. A+++ food and service!
