Oh my GOSH best dinner I had in a while. Everything was delicious, the savory alligator cheesecake, fried chicken and biscuits, mac n cheese, collard greens, catfish, and the appetizer rolls fried w the mac n cheese and buffalo chicken. Just wish they had a bigger beer selection as the cocktails all seem to be sweet. Food was absolutely worth the price, support local Black-owned business by a REAL chef, amazing ingredients and FLAVORFUL food! Already planning to go back to try gumbo and brunch. The patio isn’t cold at all, it’s pretty cozy and heated even on a rainy day (it’s basically indoors). It’s small so definitely make a reservation if you’re coming for dinner. Fun music but still very easy to chat. LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEE

I really wanted to like this spot. I love Cajun food, the staff was super friendly and patient, and the atmosphere was really nice. Unfortunately the food just didn’t cut it. My wife, our friend, and myself all agreed on this. The wet lemon pepper wings were the only thing we all enjoyed, but not enough to have us come back, and the fries they came with definitely weren’t cajun. The gumbo was decent, not really a lot of flavor though, the greens had too much vinegar and still had a bitter bite to them, the bignets were still a little doughey, the oxtail was extremely salty as was the Mac they were on. For the price I don’t want the food to be okay, I would need it to be great, and that just wasn’t the case.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience on my birthday. The service was slow, and the food was okay. The sweet tea was not sweet at all, and when I asked for another drink, I never got it. I gave up on asking the server because they barely came around. I ordered the lemon pepper catfish that had no flavor, dirty rice that had too much of one seasoning, and Cajun fries, which was the best thing on the plate, sadly. The lemon pepper wings were overly seasoned and hard to eat. Everything looked good, but the flavor was not.

Amazing food! Friendly service! Beautiful weather! Visiting from Texas, so great that I went today and yday! I absolutely could not believe that the food actually looked exactly like the social media pics! I’ll be back AGAIN! Wings, gumbo, catfish, yams, greens, EVERYTHING was delicious! Portion sizes were amazing!

Wow! Louisiana Purchase in North Park totally blew us away! We came hungry and left so happy. The Jambalaya Skillet with fried shrimp was insane. Seriously, hands down the best shrimp of 2025 so far. Perfectly crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor. If you’re a shrimp fan, do yourself a favor and order it. We also tried the Dooky Chase fried chicken with the oxtail dirty rice and oh man… comfort food heaven. The chicken was crunchy on the outside, super tender on the inside, and that dirty rice with oxtail had so much richness it could have been its own meal.
The vibes inside were great too. The staff were all really nice and made us feel super welcome from the second we walked in. You can tell they actually care about their guests, which made the whole meal that much better.
For drinks, we went with the Hurricane, which definitely a fun one! It came topped with pop rocks, which made it feel like a little party in a glass. It was wild (in the best way), though I’ll admit it leaned on the sweet side for me. Still, points for creativity because it was super fun to try.
Overall, this place is the real deal. Amazing food, great people, and a unique, lively vibe. Can’t wait to come back and work our way through the rest of the menu.

Stopped by for dinner, wanted to enjoy my food however, the shrimp I got wasn’t cleaned properly. All of them still had the line of poop present the catfish was decent. If I go again I’ll have to try something different for sure.

Food was delicious. Atmosphere was great. Enjoyed the music and initial greeting. Pricing seems very high and the 5% surcharge is actually illegal without notifying patrons at time of order. All went very well until we had to wait several minutes trying to find our waitress for our check. Suggest find a larger location. With the splendid food you will have long lines but pricing will have to meet standard restaurant pricing. Remove the 5% surcharge. Standard pricing for surcharge is 3% and patron must be notified prior to order.

As a New Orleans native I was excited to finally try Lousiana purchase. I’ve lived in San Diego for over 6 years and had heard mixed reviews about it but gave them the benefit of the doubt. I was so disappointed and sadly this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in a while.
So here’s the good;
They have charbroiled oysters which were okay. They have the same flavor as the real thing but lacked same the creaminess and cheesiness. The oxtail dirty rice was very good, that was probably my favorite dish of them all. If you still decide to go make sure you get that.
The bad:
The gumbo was pretty much inedible. I don’t know if it was the batch we got but it was so salty. Which was a shame because it had all the great makings of a good gumbo. A dark roux, lots of shrimp and all the right ingredients were there. It was lacking the true deep flavors of a traditional gumbo even beyond the saltiness.
The catfish was somehow slimy under breading which was kind of gross and it lacked the flavor.
The service was probably the worst part of the meal. It looked like the had about 3 servers on for a Friday night. We barely saw our server. We also tried to move tables because they put us at the worst two top and if you’ve been there you probably know what seat it is. They told us the couldn’t move us ( we had a reservation) and then sat a two top at a four top right behind us about 15 minutes later.
Overall just a really disappointing experience. Definitely not the New Orleans experience I had hoped for. I wouldn’t be able to recommend this spot to anyone I know and there are other options for NOLA style creole food in San Diego that are much better. Also they seem to have a lot of gimmicky items of the menu that remind me of going to the tourist traps in the quarter. Overpriced and not very good.

We wanted to check out a highly rated and reviewed soul food spot while visiting San Diego. We started with an order of the garlic cheddar biscuits. Great flavor and taste. I would love to try these fresh out of the oven. I ordered the smoked Gouda skillet with chicken for the protein and I also asked for my chicken to be fried hard/extra crispy. Chicken fried excellent with good taste and flavor. Mac n cheese couldn’t match the goodness of the chicken but was a tasty dish nonetheless. I wasn’t a fan of the flavor/taste of the red beans and rice nor was my wife. My wife ordered fried lemon pepper catfish with collard greens and smoked Gouda macaroni and cheese. She was complimentary and pleased with her meal. She just wishes her fish could’ve been fried longer or more crispy. I tried and the fish was seasoned well and you could taste the lemon pepper. Collard greens were good with the cornbread. Everyone was super nice and friendly. Our waitress also provided five star service and did a great job answering all of our questions being this was our first visit.
