We enjoyed a bottle of wine paired with their delicious complimentary focaccia. Their take on lasagna was unique: light on the sauce but rich, meaty, and incredibly cheesy, exactly what you’d expect from a place called The Cheese Room, and we loved it. Our pasta with mushrooms, prosciutto, and truffle oil was equally excellent. We were so full by the end that we couldn’t even squeeze in dessert.
Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable evening, and the perfect way to kick off our trip to Seattle. Highly recommend!
The basque cheesecake was excellent. The meatballs are recommended as well.
The menu is creative and all executed well, and portions and price were pretty reasonable. We enjoyed everything that we ordered. It’s great that they have a cheap bottle of wine option too.
The staff were all more than friendly to us.
It’s a great place to go with friends or on a date.
To the staff’s credit, I was one of the only customers right when they opened, and they were working overtime filling my water! I had been walking around town for hours and was worried about getting kidney stones from the cheese overload. I cannot say enough kind words about both the staff and the food! I came to Seattle to knock things off my bucket list, but they really made me want to go back, so I probably will. I really loved the view from the dining room. Seattle at its finest.
Honestly, I didn’t think I would enjoy this place since I didn’t like cheese… but…
1. Best grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever had! made with ricotta
(which I’ve never had), it’s so light & fluffy I forgot I was eating cheese! came with tomato soup and that pairing was seriously, you gotta try.
2. Camembert lobster bisque ravioli was so yummy! I’ve never heard of camembert cheese, but whatever they did with it was
3. the Basque cheesecake… also have never heard of this, but if you’re looking for a cheesecake that feels “healthy”? (lol) this is it! it was so light & creamy but not overwhelming in flavor, I probably could’ve eaten the whole cheesecake myself.
4. ok, tiramisu, apparently up until now I’ve never had “real” tiramisu? I didn’t know! I’ve only ever had American tiramisu? haha. but if you’re looking for tiramisu with strong rum & coffee flavor, come try theirs.
5. strong margarita
overall- I will definitely go back
The truffle capanelle hardly had any mushrooms, nor a truffle taste, was somewhat bland and served painfully hot. It burned my tongue. I honestly would come back and try a different pasta. I got the pistachio salad and found that it was way too heavily, dressed and difficult to eat.
One bartender is preparing drinks, serving tables in the bar area, seating people in the restaurant, and also having to serve as host to greet people. It’s no wonder it took quite a bit of time for him to realize I finished eating and was waiting for the check with my coat on.
Most guests arrived and had to wait 5 to 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledge their presence. Even when the peak restaurant rush, simmer down, there was still a very long wait for the guests. Either the restaurant should hire an actual host or a second bartender. It seemed there was only one server on the main dining side of the restaurant too.
As I arrived, one party of four returned 20 minutes after they had checked in and to be told to wait 20 minutes. Only for them to be informed that their table was given to someone else because they weren’t there on time. It seems that there’s not a good reservation we process.
If you and your party are 21 and over, then you can be seated in the bar area. As everyone was told to wait, they were asked if they were over 21 as it would have shortened the weight substantially. But honestly, the service in the bar area was not worth it.
I had the lobster bisque ravioli, and in all truth, this is one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. It had such depth and nuance, and the freshness of the corn and dill were amazing. I had a local cider from Yonder with it. My friend loved his food, too. We both ate every bite. I raved about this place to other friends at the convention, and they made plans to go, too.
