Ate at American Beauty at The Grove on Sunday and had such a solid meal. We started with the Stuffed Hash Brown and Warm Sticky Bun since we’d had them before and loved them—still just as good. For mains, we ordered the Charred Chicken Bánh Mì and the Iowa Co-op Teres Major steak. The Bánh Mì had a really nice balance of sweet and spicy, with well-seasoned chicken on a bun that had a light crunch on the outside, plus house-made ruffle chips on the side. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and came with a generous pile of crispy shoestring fries. Definitely a place we’d go back to. Pics attached if you want to check it out.

Beautiful restaurant at the Grove that I was very excited to try, but ultimately left disappointed with my experience. The steaks were delicious and definitely the highlight of the entire meal, which was to be expected, but the sides were a different story. 3 of us got the Mac and cheese, and we all thought it was gross, didn’t finish it or take it home. A friend got the carrots and didn’t like those either. The lobster tail and grilled broccolini were good, grilled flatbread was decent as well. Another high point was the molten chocolate lava cake with peanut butter which we loved. The waitress was great but tried too hard to upsell. Overall, I thought it was overpriced for what we got, and I’m still shocked by how terrible the mac and cheese was, which I feel like is a pretty hard thing to not get right. I’ll probably stick to the burgers at The Win~dow.

I don’t really leave bad reviews but this restaurant was special. We understand it was valentine’s day, one of their busiest, but we really did give a lot of grace. It started with them sitting us and the hostess said it’ll be worth the wait (it was not) and our waitress didn’t take our drink order until after 20 mins. When she finally came, we ordered our appetizers and drinks which didn’t come for another 20 mins. We were sat right in front of the door where it’s freezing so we asked if they can close it to which our waitress said she’ll ask the manager if they can close it since there are also people outdoors (she never asked. We waited and shivered for 10 mins.) My husband was fed up so he went to find a different table and asked our waitress if we can switch and she said yes, which she could’ve offered in the first place.
After getting our appetizer we waited for about 15 mins for them to tell us the Mac and cheese were out for the night. So we had to order different sides which made our wait even longer. When our food finally arrived, my husband was given the wrong dish, my steak was room temperature and was rare (I ordered it medium.)
When his steak finally came, it was raw so he had to send it back which took another 10 mins. At this point we were over it and asked for the check and boxes. Boxes and check came before our desserts so we just asked for the desserts to go. We look at our receipt and there was a “happy and healthy” surcharge of 3% on top of our $271 bill.
Will never come back for sure. It seems they spent majority of their budget on aesthetics rather than flavor.

We will probably go here every single time we go to the grove from now on. By far the best restaurant in the area. The ribeye was perfect for 2 of us and the house red wine is really good, especially for being only $10 for practically two glasses. 10/10 service and lovely people working here making us feel welcomed and looking forward to returning. Beautiful lighting during sunset.

The steaks were decent and the chicken wings quite good, but the overall service was subpar to me. We made reservations through Resy, yet the concierge claimed they now use OpenTable—though oddly, they still had our shellfish allergy note from Resy. We had also indicated in Resy it was a birthday celebration, but no acknowledgment was made, nothing even a single happy birthday wishes. My hanger steak, ordered medium, arrived medium-rare with a pink, bloody center, wet with some red liquid I assume blood —they corrected and still tasty. The other ribeye steak was great. I requested a sweeter wine but was told none were available, ordered a red wine instead, only to be offered dessert wines at the end, which was confusing they said they don’t have anything sweet. Staff were polite, the cheesecake tasted like a cheesecake, and the restroom was clean. Despite the service missteps, I’d still rate it 3.5/5 for the food quality alone. Fyi, no parking validation.

Unfortunately, this was not the best brunch I have had. The bacon and sausage were not to my guests liking. The bacon tasted like it should have been a part of a barbecue meal. The sausage had an indescribable taste that stayed with one of the guests several hours after eating it. We ordered one order of eggs with cheese and one without cheese. The customers who ordered eggs, could my taste the cheese. When we questioned the server, she stated they indeed included cheese. We informed her that both orders looked exactly the same and one order was not supposed to have cheese, so there was definitely a mistake with the order. Our food took extremely long to come out. We were the first guests to arrive, but we received our food after everyone who arrived after us. The server even mentioned the food should have been served. All in all, we were not satisfied with the brunch and although it’s a beautiful venue, we will not be returning and we will not recommend it to our friends or family.

The filet mignon and New York strip we had were outstanding, perfectly juicy, with just the right amount of char and spot on seasoning. The herb salad that came with the steak was a pleasant surprise. Each bite refreshed the palate much like pickled ginger does with sushi.
The caramelized carrots were one of the most creative and memorable carrot dishes I’ve ever had. Still thinking about them even now back home.
The wine selection was solid and reasonably priced, so we could enjoy ourselves without feeling constrained. I also really appreciated the generous pours on the by the glass wines (so rare these days when many places barely give you a third of a glass!).
Every staff member is friendly, attentive, and the whole operation felt very well organized. As someone who truly loves steak, this is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to often.

We had the ribeye, mushrooms, carrots, hashbrowns, mac n cheese. Cocktails were great! The sides were excellent especially the carrots and hashbrowns. Sadly the steak was not the best. Although it was cooked to the correct internal temperature. It was more burnt than charred. We let the manager know when he came to ask how the food was. He apologized and offered a free apple pie dessert. Dessert was superb! Made up for the steak. Would be willing to give them another shot due to the service and some of the food highlights.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at American Beauty. Had been wanted to go to AB in Venice, but hadn’t got around to it. Glad they opened up closer to our house. The space is designed impressively. Seriously one of the most visually impressive restaurants around. The menu is a creative take on the traditional american steakhouse. Who doesn’t love a great steakhouse? We had the NY Strip, the stuffed hash brown, and the roasted squash. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.

GREAT ADDITION TO THE GROVE- we went opening weekend and love it! Started at the bar while we wait for our group to arrive. The bartenders were super nice and explained the drink menu. We ordered many different dishes (check out our receipt). The flatbread and the stuffed hash browns are must have starters/ sides. I loved the Mary’s chicken. They have hundreds of bottles of wine on their menu. However, the house red (which was fab) is only $10 for a full glass. Will definitely be back!
