Dined here for lunch with my wife on 3 February, 2026 on our way home from a medical appointment in Tampa. Had been wanting to come here for quite some time (several years), and the opportunity finally presented itself. Essentially, it’s an old hunting lodge “cook house” with a very authentic and rustic atmosphere inside. It dates back to the late 1940s when this place was literally out in the boonies and in the thick of a live oak shaded wilderness. There are tons of amateur taxidermist mounts inside the main lodge dining room that include at least 15 very large Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes, possums, a coyote, a giant 10 foot gator, a wild turkey, a bobcat, and I think I even saw a fox too. Apparently it was a “shoot, skin, dress and cook” hunters’ lodge when it first opened. Since about the early 1990s, it’s been encroached upon by a large ranchette – style acreage-homed subdivision that you have to wend your way through the streets of to get here from the SR-70 exit off of I-75. Once you get close to the lodge, you’ll also see there is a relatively new and somewhat crowded RV park that does not have any spaces with trees or shade. Fortunately this RV park lies on the front side of the Lodge, so it doesn’t despoil the view of the Braden River out back of it. There is no “this way to the Lodge” signage to guide you here through the residential area, so you’ll need your GPS and the address from Google Maps to get here unless you are a local and are familiar with all of the winding roads in this now, heavily built-out residential area. You can, however, get here directly from SE Bradenton via the two-lane Linger Lodge Road, which used to be the only way in an out of this area. The lodge building sits on a high bank overlooking the Braden River, which is only about as wide as a large creek here (maybe 25-30 yards wide here). It has a nice outdoor screened-in patio deck with a pleasant and serene view of the river and quite a few outside tables. Inside, there is a large dining room with about 15 tables as well. There is also a landing dock out back, and you could probably get here by putting up the Braden river in a shallow-draft pontoon boat, flats boat, or jon boat. There is also a good-sized indoor bar in the SW Corner of the lodge building that provides access to the outside deck via a set of french double doors. We arrived here right at opening time (11:30 am), so we were seated by the friendly hostess immediately. Our server Sergio was there to take our drink order within one minute, and was also quick to return with the drinks to take our food order, and then deliver it within 15 minutes. We both had the Pit Smoked Pulled Pork BBQ sandwiches, and while a bit pricey at $20 each, were a good sized portion and tasted delicious. We probably could have shared on sandwich, as we were stuffed when we finished. I’m not sure we’ll dine here again, but that’s only because it’s a 45-mile drive north of our home and through heavy traffic congestion, but I will say that if you are visiting the east Sarasota area out near the University Mall, Lakewood Ranch, or anywhere in East Bradenton, it’s definitely worth a stop in for lunch or a sunset time supper to check out the authentically rustic inside and outdoor atmosphere and enjoy some of their made-fresh and delicious pulled pork BBQ.

Good food and excellent service in an informal atmosphere. We had our Thunderbird Club monthly meeting here last Saturday and all went well. We sat outside on the covered, screened deck overlooking the Braden River.
The menu is very eclectic with something for everyone from burgers to salads to frog legs to fish. The food came quickly and the service was excellent.
I had the Gator with collards and Cole Slaw. One of our members had the Gator Burger a reported it was delicious. The portions are generous and the staff is welcoming, professional and friendly.
One of my favorite local eateries

Different? Yes, for sure. A bit pricey but WELL worth it. Surrounded by a travel trailer park on one side and the Braden River and OLD FLORIDA on the other. Loved it. I mentioned to our server that the gator bites were too small to suit me yet tasty. Loved the frog legs, Catfish too was flavorful. Our first visit, almost locals, we will LINGER here again. Dang that’s a big gator mount and many other fun to see displays. Great server too.

Great established restaurant… where the locals eat! You must check out this spot. The staff is absolutely wonderful and our food came in a timely manner. Delicious meat from the smoker… yum! The highlight was the Bloody Mary! FYI… they change up the components weekly… so it’s always a different drink , so should I stay a meal every week.
The screened rear porch for dining provides a great view of the Braden River . Oh .. and the decor is super interesting

My family has been going to Linger Lodge for over 30 years, and this was easily the worst experience we’ve ever had there.
Service:
We were at the restaurant for over two hours, and our server came to the table a hand full of times — including dropping off the bill. She was rude when asked for recommendations and never once checked on our meals. I had to get up multiple times just to find her. Basic guest service like acknowledging your table or asking how the food is should be the bare minimum.
Food:
The food was just as disappointing — especially for the price. The fries were cold, the shrimp scampi was bland, and the collard greens had zero flavor.
The overall experience felt disorganized, inattentive, and overpriced for what you get. After waiting that long for service and receiving food that lacked even basic quality or flavor, it’s hard to understand how this place maintains its reputation.
As a local, I genuinely want to support local businesses, but this experience was unacceptable. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit. I would strongly encourage management to take guest experience and food quality seriously before more customers decide not to return.

A cool southern spot for a meal in a place with a fun and interesting history and a very unique atmosphere. You pretty much have to experience it for yourself to see the decorations and understand the vibe.
Our waitress was fantastic and made us all laugh and made quick friends with our kids. The food and drinks were good, and it was fun to explore the space. I will definitely visit again with out of towners looking for a very Florida dining experience.

Very interesting place, loaded with history and taxidermy. Beautiful spot on river. Super laid back atmosphere.
Went with a group of 4 for late afternoon lunch / dinner. Menu is pretty wide ranging with some interesting choices. Alligator chowder was a hit. Lot of fried food. Calamari and shrimp were good. 2 of our group had burgers. The linger burger was great, thick bacon and blue cheese. Staff was friendly and efficient. Off the beaten track but will go back.

This is a unique old Florida restaurant. On a nice day sit on the large screened porch overlooking the winding start of the Braden River. The menu has many regular options but also includes gator bites and Florida items. The walls are covered in preserved wild Florida animals. Its an experience you dont want to miss.

This place is just so cool. If you are looking for old Floridiana, mounted wildlife busts, gator bites, a roadkill menu, go no further. It’s not weird, it’s eccentric. So eccentric that it’s cool.
I visited for lunch on a windy rainy weekday and sat on the back porch that is screened. I loved the view of the water and trees beyond. My server was perfect and I had a delicious Linger burger. The atmosphere is so much more interesting than the sterile all white or grey restaurants that we have gotten used to in recent years. Can’t wait to go back!
