Either the woman was having a bad day, or just didn’t care to serve my beautiful brown skin.
My order was a pick up, ok, fine.
After I handed her my credit card to pay, my friend asked her to add the soda he placed next me to the bill.
I thought that the two pizza pies and wings that cost me nearly $65 was clearly a knock it out of the park kind of charge. Ouch! Ouch!
I signed the check, but she gave me no receipt.
After requesting a receipt, she says to us, “Are you guys together” “I didn’t charge for the soda” .
Now, of course she she saw us walk in together, but never connected the dots , which means, another $5 on top of my initially over priced order… jeez ♂️
Before leaving, I asked did she put napkins in the bag. She reported by saying napkins are over there, in the area she directed me she could obviously see that the napkin holder was empty. I said, “it’s empty, could please hand me some napkins?”
Surprisingly, she gave me THREE little napkins for two large pizza pies and some chicken wings.
At this point I walked out shaking my head out of dissatisfaction with an eerie feeling of negative energy. There was a man working in the kitchen that appeared unfriendly as well, but who knows…
Truthfully, it was an overall unpleasant place for me patronize.
Too expensive. Poor customer service. Bad vibes, and the food wasn’t anything to brag about, and I mean it really wasn’t.
I wouldn’t recommend and I will not return.
Whoever this woman was, I hope her reasoning wasn’t really what it felt like to me…
Is she racist, rude, or ridiculously both?
Praying for you, lady, this isn’t how you treat people that don’t look like you.
Sal’s in West New York, NJ is everything a true neighborhood pizzeria should be and more. From the moment I walked in, I was served with impeccable attention, and Dom, the owner, made the experience feel personal and genuine. You can tell this place is run with pride and passion.
One bite of the pizza instantly brought me back to my roots being a kid in New Jersey, sitting in a local pizzeria, enjoying a real slice. The pizza was nothing short of perfect. As a former NJ native who now lives in Texas, I can confidently say it’s not easy to find a flawless slice anymore but I found it tonight at Sal’s.
To top it off, the pours are generous, and the bartender, Aylan, was extremely attentive and on point the entire time. Great service, great vibes, and great people.
No doubt about it, I’ll be back. And next time, I’m going straight for the Sicilian pizza.
Highly recommend Sal’s to anyone who loves authentic pizza done right.
