Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

1/29/26_Came in at 7pm and ordered 5 basket meals no shakes or anything special. Everything us ordered on a screen w/ a scanner to get your drink. Zero cars in drive through and just use in an empty restaurant. We watched the 2 cooks slowly make out food and 31 minutes later they handed me the tray w/ our cold food on it.
It was just ok due to being cold.
Only picked steak n shake since there so rare in Ohio, but this one will be the last ill ever visit due this horrible experience.
Stay clear go to the Culvers ot Chik Fillet across the street.

The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at Steak and Shake. Currently have been at the restaurant for an hour and a half, and just received the coffee I ordered when I got here. When they gave me the shake-sized cup, they told me they “did not have coffee cups or lids”. Upon our arrival at 8:30, all of the booths on the front side of the restaurant were full. Our group (5) and another group (6) who arrived at the same time tried to sit at the booths on the back side of the restaurant. One of the workers came from around the counter to tell us that the back half of the restaurant was closed for seating (all of the chairs were on the tables already). We looked around and asked her where we should sit. She didn’t have an answer. It was 8:30. The restaurant was still open for another hour and a half. After going back and forth for 10 minutes, this worker reluctantly let us sit at the booths in the back of the restaurant. By 9:00, there were at least 50 people at the front of the store, standing around, waiting for their food. Shortly after this rush, a different worker tried to lock the front door, to prevent more customers from coming inside the restaurant. Hungry patrons were letting the customers inside who were locked out, and eventually just had to put a rock in the door to prevent it from locking. Our food was ready after 45 minutes, and the entire groups food was cold. The fries were burnt horribly, and majority of the food was unfortunately inedible, and thrown away. I’ve attached pictures of the coffee/cup, the rock in the door, and the restaurant when we left at 10:00.

The craziest Steak N Shake experience I’ve ever had. We came in at 8:30 PM on a weekend and ordered our food. We finally got our food at 9:21 PM (51 MINUTE WAIT) and our burgers were cold and our fries were rock hard as if they left them in the fryer for too long. To make matters more interesting, after my friends and I had all placed our orders and sat down at a table, this female employee came up to us and said that this section of the restaurant was now closed. All of us were absolutely puzzled and simply asked if we could speak to the manager or get a refund as we had all ordered dine in and there was no where else to sit because they had stopped bussing the tables and completely impromptu closed just one side of the restaurant. Going to Steak N Shake after a day at cedar point is a tradition, and I love the Steak N Shake brand, but this location brings shame to the brand. They need an intervention, immediately!

We came into the drive thru twice today and the first time was told that they had a 30 minute wait so left. Went to cedar point and came back for dinner. Was then informed that once again drive thru was not in use that the computer was down and had to come inside and order. While waiting on our food a large group of customers came in the restaurant and an employee told customers that they couldn’t sit on a side of the restaurant because it was closed for the night at 8:45 pm. This location does not close until 10:00 pm. This employee has been rude to every customer that she has waited and spoke to and the customer service at this location is absolutely horrible. Customers keep flooding into the restaurant and they have refused to open more seating.it took us 30 minutes from the time we placed our order before we received our food.

Food was great. I love the question about a tip. Lol. I’m in our vehicle while my wife and kids are waiting on 2 shakes. It’s been over 25 minutes now that ive been in the truck. I waited in side as well so. Steak and shake use to be one of my favorite places to go. What a joke now.

My wife and I both got burgers and they were way to salty. I was hungry so I had to eat it, but my wife threw hers out. Ordered milkshakes and 1/3 was whipped cream. Never had such a bad meal here before.
Not a fan of kiosk ordering either.

Service was quick, fries weren’t fresh, my milkshake was way below the fill line and I asked for no whipped cream. The guy cooking the fries was eating while cooking and wiped his mouth with his gloves on

It’s ok. You get what you pay for. Inexpensive fast food. Nothing was bad but it wasn’t a wow either. The restaurant was clean, staff was friendly and efficient, but their ice machine was down, the self-serve pop machine wasn’t working and they were only able to take credit card which was not convenient for several members of our group.

I recently visited this location after coming from Cedar Point with my family, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The staff showed a noticeable lack of respect toward customers, and several employees were openly talking about how they couldn’t wait to leave, despite the lobby being full of guests waiting for service. There appeared to be severe understaffing, with only one person handling shakes, one person making the food, and one person operating the grill. As a result, we waited 46 minutes for our food while dining inside. When the meal finally arrived, the food was cold. Other customers were also expressing the same concerns. Additionally, the drive-thru was not fully operational, which contributed to delays. It was also concerning to see there were no cameras installed in the location — this does not align with expected standards of professionalism and safety. I have been visiting this restaurant since I was a child and have never experienced service like this before. The conditions and customer experience during this visit were unacceptable, and I hope these issues can be addressed promptly.

The service was very slow and there was no personal interaction between employee and customer except for the employee yelling out the customer number. The food was okay. It did come out hot; however, it was separate from the shakes that were ordered. In fact, my daughter was done with her shake by the time we got our food which was approximately 20 minutes after receiving the shakes. My shake had a hard, white, rock-like substance in it. Thankfully it did not break any of my teeth. However, it looked like a tooth but the manager said it came from the ice cream machine. There was no offer to reimburse, so I just asked for a soft drink and didn’t ask for any money back because they were already so slow. My daughter sandwich was supposed to have bacon on it and it did not. We didn’t figure it out until we were already on the highway as we were trying to head back to Cincinnati. It was too late to turn around. I don’t recommend the Steak ‘n Shake.
