Reviews
Food quality: Unfortunately, the meal did not meet expectations. Several dishes suffered from bland flavors and inconsistent seasoning. The prep seemed hasty, resulting in a lack of cohesion across courses.
Specific dishes: We ordered [guacamole], [seafood taco], and [another dish you tried]. The guacamole appeared commercially prepared rather than freshly made, with a texture and taste that didn’t align with what we anticipated from a Mexican restaurant. The seafood taco was undersalted and lacked a balanced seafood flavor, making the dish feel heavier and less fresh than expected.
Authenticity and freshness: The flavors and presentation did not reflect what we typically expect from traditional Mexican cuisine. The ingredients didn’t feel well-coordinated, and the freshness of some components was questionable.
Overall impression: This visit left us disappointed and reluctant to return. Given the number of missed marks, it’s hard to justify a repeat visit at this time.
What could improve
Fresh, in-house prep: Ensure dishes like guacamole are prepared fresh at the table or in a visible area to reassure guests about freshness.
Flavor and seasoning: Invest in authentic spice profiles and balanced seasoning to elevate the core dishes.
Menu clarity: Provide clearer descriptions of what to expect in terms of authenticity and ingredients.
Service training: Improve pace and attentiveness, especially during peak hours, to create a more consistent dining experience.
Food safety and consistency: Maintain strict kitchen hygiene and quality checks to prevent underseasoned or poorly prepared dishes.
Verdict
If you’re seeking a truly authentic Mexican dining experience with fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation, this spot may not meet those expectations based on this visit. There are several other local options that consistently deliver better flavor, freshness, and service.
Received the apology of a GC for $25.00 asking us to give them yet another shot. This would cover maybe half of a dinner for 2. Unfortunately the GC was written for an expiration date that has already passed; we live an hour away from the restaurant. So not only have we wasted over 150$ in crap meals and service hoping that this one will be better….. we have also wasted the fuel/time to even give it another try. Then receiving a GC that had to be handwritten for validity it seems and they cant even get that right. The letter states they use their reviews for teaching and training to do better to improve their customer satisfaction and business. Judging by this basic oversight by the GM tells me all I need to know. The staff doesnt have a leader anymore and so there is a lack of basic training in customer satisfaction, being able to pick up on when there is an issue; addressing /fixing it before it gets to the point of yet another bad review. Leading by example is what a good leader does and here at this loaction they are doomed for failure it seems. Id give zero or negative stars if I could.
This place is dirty and dust everywhere you look. The food was less than mediocre at best. Guacamole was brown. Soup was scorching hot with the spoon in it so it burned my fingers when grabbed it. Chips were oversalted. Grilled burritos tasted like burnt onions. Steak quesadillas were more like goat gristle meat, no flavor at all, greasy as hell. Service was crap. Forgot a dressing, never even came to ask if it was tasting okay. Walked off when adressing the issues. Manager came out; asked if we wanted boxes and walked away didnt ask if anything was wrong. Didnt make any effort to rectify the issues. Dont bother eating here, its a waste. Been a customer for over 20 years and this was the third time in the last year that we gave them another shot. We will not be going back.
I ordered the sizzling chicken fajita and was extremely disappointed. Not only was it completely bland, but it came out more like a regular topping rather than the sizzling dish I was expecting—no sizzle, no flavor. We also tried the wet burrito, which was overly salty to the point of being inedible. I politely brought it up to the staff, but nothing was done to address it—no apology, no offer to replace or adjust the dish. Customer service was just as underwhelming as the food.
Save your money and your taste buds—I suggest avoiding this place.
The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The food was just not for us.
Prices are very good for TC area.
I like it today but I didn’t love it.
Food is bland. I got the chicken chimichanga and it needed to be vibrant with color and flavors but no. The guac on top was brown and sour. The sour cream was for sure sour. My husband got street truck tacos and the tortilla was baked in the taco stand that the tortillas were stuck in it. The meat was dry and bland. The pico looked like it was made a week ago, it was brown, watery, and bland.
Chips were great, tomatillo salsa was biter and the red salsa tasted like it’s from a jar.
NOT AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food.
