Wow!!! What great and fresh ingredients! The oysters were SOO good! There were bits of uni (sea urchin) on top of the oysters and you could tell that they were really fresh. I also got salmon nigiri and the eel roll. Service was excellent, I forgot my receipt and they ran out to give it to me, thank you!

The place was mid.
I had the miso ramen. My ramen had just half hard boiled egg which was sad because there is always full soft boiled eggs.
There were no chilli or oils given on the side.
The service was very good and the servers were very nice but it was slow maybe because they’re a little understaffed.
The taste of the food however was good and authentic.
I feel like given the cold weather I had way too much of an expectation which is why the ramen didn’t slap.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yuraku Japanese Restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, setting the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable meal.
The atmosphere at Yuraku is clean, fresh, and welcoming — a perfect setting to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine. Every dish we ordered was made fresh to order, and you could truly taste the quality and care that went into the preparation. The sushi was especially impressive — beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and absolutely delicious.
Beyond the sushi, the menu offered a wide variety of options, and everything we tried was flavorful and satisfying. It’s clear that Yuraku takes pride in using high-quality ingredients and maintaining a clean, inviting environment for their guests.
Overall, Yuraku Japanese Restaurant is a standout spot for anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Japanese meal. With great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a genuinely friendly staff, it’s a place I will definitely be returning to — and recommending to friends and family. If you’re in the area and craving fresh, flavorful Japanese cuisine, Yuraku should be at the top of your list!

My review score is always situation and area dependent, and in this case, this restaurant serves as a comfortable work lunch spot with a decently priced lunch menu. So with that caveat, nice lunch spot in Rosslyn where I think this may be one or the only sushi option. The thing I liked the best was that there were a bunch of bento box or sushi/sashimi combo lunches. I ordered the sushi sashimi specials, and it came with miso soup and a small salad. Everything was great, sushi was fresh, and the service was relaxed and friendly. It’s not a fancy spot, but it’s a great option for work lunches in the Rosslyn area.

Apologies for the photos of partially eaten food, I wanted to record how beautiful the fish looked! I had to slow down to really take in the flavor and texture. The sushi was so good, and seemed like a good middle ground between the extremely high end sushi options around and a fast casual place. We had a great time and got sushi and sashimi, and some happy hour sake. I would go back. 🙂 thank you guys for the service.

[Edited]Been here in DC for 8 months and this is the first Japanese restaurant that we saved! Me and my husband have been living in Japan for few years and I can tell this rest has very good sashimi and sushi. Next time we will come to try omakase 🙂
I came back for the Omakase as promised, and again the services and food was exceptional! Is a little bit different from the Omakase in Japan that they will serve little by little and separate per person instead of a all the sushi in one big plate . but Im not complaining because for the quality and amount of food that we got is more than worth it!

The ramen was disappointing for the cost, and quite salty. It also felt rushed when the servers tried to clear my unfinished plate, despite the restaurant not being crowded. A decent spot for a quick lunch, but it didn’t impress beyond that.

Delicious miso soup and cooked roll (this one was a special called snowy roll I believe, basically a dragon roll with crab on top) and nice, quick service.

After dining at Yuraku a dozen times over the past half year, I can say that every experience has been consistently top-notch. The karaage chicken appetizer is amazingly crispy and the slices in the chirashi are both generous and deliciously fresh.
I’ve brought business partners and loved ones here on multiple occasions and every visit has been a delectable delight.

I want to give a shout out to Mr. Ham, Jobbi, and MJ. I stayed at a hotel near this fine establishment and I visited it quite frequently for dinner. Their omakase is absolutely incredible, and sitting at the bar watching them prepare the food was an awesome experience. They were very kind, and super welcoming. They have an vast understanding of the meals they are preparing for you, and they only use premium cuts. Literally the meat melts in your mouth, it was sooooo good. I will definitely visit them again on my next trip out. I stayed at this hotel for over 2 weeks, and this was the only restaurant I went to eat at more than once. They made me feel like I was family, they new what I wanted when I walked in, and they remembered our previous conversations from nights prior and were very engaging. I would highly recommend to anyone who inquires. Hands down one of the best restaurants experiences in the area.
