We went to try this restaurant during its 3 days grand opening with 30% discount. We wanted to try the Tom yum Thai seafood hot pot but we were told all hotpots are not available yet.The spring rolls were ok. The Wagyu steak with salted egg sauce was disappointed. I wondered if it’s Wagyu… The runny sauce is mayo base with a little touch of salted egg. The laughing cow cheese wedge is found in the middle of the dish, half melted. The
Vermicelli noodles with shrimp and crab is so so but has potential for a great dish. Lots of crab meat as topping. The seafood fried rice is good. The service is chaotic. The waiters/waitress delivered the dishes to the wrong table. We probably won’t visit this restaurant again.

came here with my mom for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. she got the mi vit (duck noodle soup) and i got the bo wagyu sot trung muoi (wagyu beef in salted egg sauce). the beef was insanely tender and the sauce was really good, there was plenty of it too so i was able to mop up a lot of it with lettuce or bread. eggs and tomatoes were nice. the pate was a tiny bit gamey which i didnt mind, but my mom wasnt a fan. i tried some of her mi vit and it was pretty good, soup was sweet and mild and not too much of a “ducky” taste, and the duck itself was very tender too

i would say a good point of comparison would be nep cafe over by mile square park; it gets a bit loud over there, waits can be ridiculous, and the prices are a bit higher/dishes are a bit more bougie. so if you prefer a cozier atmosphere and a simpler palate then go to petit saigon. definitely coming back soon

Petit Saigon restaurant really deliver quality dishes and nice atmosphere. I don’t know how people leave bad reviews for a place that is still under soft opening, sounds sketchy to me. The banh canh cua (crab udon) was flavorful, noodle had a nice chewy texture and most important of all the pork meat did not have a funky smell. If you eat banh canh cua around OC you will know what I’m talking about! Their mi vit tiem (braised duck egg noodle) was also really good, has a nice aroma without empowering strong smell of duck. I will come back and try more items on their menu soon!

Food 4/5. The ribs were still juicy and not dried out like most places. It fell on the bone as well so you don’t have to work so hard to eat. Broth is not the best but it’s good enough to come back.

I write this review because I think this place has potential, but there were some issues during my experience that made me give these ratings. So I write this for the owner to take into consideration. I would to come back and have a better experience when they have a grand opening.

My friends and I came here during their 2nd day of soft opening.

We went during breakfast, the interior is nicely decorated, we were sat quickly. The room had a decent amount of patrons.

Service: although we took some time to look at the menu, our waitress did not return for some time. And we had to flag her down however when we made contact with her she was seating a table next to us and bluntly said she’d come to us once she took care of the new patrons. We were instantly turned off as she gave us an unkind face and not a polite response. She then immediately turned to take the order of the table she just sat next to us. But then that table took a long time to order. Finally she turned to us. This was not the first time throughout the meal that the waitresses were hard to flag down. Often we kept turning and looking at waitresses but were not acknowledged. They also could not really answer questions about the menu or differentiate between dishes. We asked what was the difference between Wagyu Banh Mi Chao Dac Biet and the other Banh mi chao that both in English said (creamy mushroom sauce) she only said one was creamier but didn’t explain why.

Cleanliness: our table hand some crumbs and food debris when we first sat down. We asked for 2 extra small plates to share food. The waitress brought out WET and DIRTY plates. It was as if someone took it straight out the sink, I am just appalled the waitress didn’t see an issue with the soaking plates with puddles and food crumbs when she put it on our table. The owner was very nice and understanding when I brought to her attention, she stated they were short staffed, however I do not think that dirty plates can be excused by short staffing nor the waitresses lack of care. The young man was very helpful and polite. Silverware had dried food too.

Food: we were served the Banh Mi Chao in a reasonable time, however we were not provided bread within the first few minutes of the dish being served. After we flagged down a waitress, we were told the bread was still cooking. Why would you serve the sizzling plate if the bread is not ready? The timing of dishes is off. The bread was good and heared well. The wagyu was not wagyu quality, it was chewy, not tender and at times too thick bc of the texture. The flavor was alright. Presentation was appealing. However we were brought 2 different Banh Mi Chao, one with mushroom cream sauce and one pepper one. They both looked the SAME. There was no mushroom and no distinct flavor that separated them. I am happy with the portion size, however I would NOT pay $24 for for poor meat quality. Pho was alright, the meat quality of the brisket was dry but the fatty flank was good. Pho could use a little more salt and depth of flavor. But the portion was good and flavor was alright.

I did like the presentation of food, it had a clean look and really made classic Vietnamese look even more upscale.

I will say I want to come back because the smell of some of the crab dishes in the restaurant smelled really good. I want to try the Banh Canh Cua and other dishes.

They also posted on the banner they were doing Labubu and raffle drawings, I saw the raffle bin but never saw them raffle anything.

I am opening to coming back. There were many dishes I want to try. I just think quality of service, food quality and cleanliness could be adjusted. I think the waitresses could have been more friendly, I am sure it was a busy soft opening however their attitude and lack of care was very off putting. The owner seemed really nice and genuine. The space is nice and I would like to bring my family to try more dishes. I would like to see this place succeed and grow. It gives a very “Classic, but modern” vibe without making the classic food taste or look too modern.

Was here a day ago wanted to give my honest review. I went here by myself to try the food. Atmosphere was decent, reminded me of another concept food spot I went too. I order the pho first and I was met with disappointment. Food portions was a lot smaller than most pho places the broth was decently okay no different. I ordered another dish, the beef stew. I yet again met with portion size and only a few piece of meat and 3 cut carrots. So im really asking myself is really worth the money I spend for eating here. The food didnt keep raved. Theres a saying japanese, “needing more umami” flavor. Pricing is a bit rough to eat here in the middle of fountain valley westminster. Floor was dirty where I sat and a bunch of food crumbs on the floor where I sat.
Decent place, food is okay, money I would go elsewhere portion was not met to my expectation. Staffing needs to work on service and not stand there.

this is a new spot that hasn’t been getting enough attention! their take on the dish “bo ne” is sooo yummy, its rare to find places that load mushroom sauce on top (SOOO GOOD) and the wagyu meat is very tender and the cubes are the perfect little bite size. the interior is also gorgeous, and staff are all extremely attentive. ill be taking my parents here for them to try it

Went here with my wife as we wanted to compare the banh mi chao/bo ne to our other favorite spot, SIP. I ordered the bo wagyu sot trung muoi and my wife got the bo wagyu sot tieu den. We both liked it better than SIP as there was more sauce and the sauce had more flavor. The beef was a lot more tender here than SIP too.

My only criticism was the sauces on both dishes were a little too salty, but it is only a small criticism.

Service was pretty good and the food came out much quicker than SIP. All in all a great place to eat if you like banh mi chao/bo ne. Would recommend.
