Well, I just love this place. I just had a big birthday at Space Room, and everyone was wonderful — at least 70 of my pals showed up throughout the night and everyone, especially Cayli, Cassie, Mira and Nina really took care of us, even taking the big group photo. Love all the space-y murals of aliens…. Friendly atmosphere… I hope to shoot my music video there. Space Room is a Portland treasure!

Weirdly laid out dive bar with very good service but a small bar area. Alien and space murals everywhere!
Big game room on the other side though where you can get your PAC Man, pinball and air hockey on. Big covered patio too.
Bathrooms fit the segment; talking barely adequate. Reasonable prices.

My gal pulled up the menu on her phone and wow it looked great!! We decided to walk on over for lunch. Choices included these highlights:
-French Dip with onions, a unique mixture of tasty cheeses and great quality thin cut ribeye.
– Chicken Fried Steak with a load of hash browns, gravy (mushroom or sausage) and two eggs.
– several cheeseburgers.
– Italian Beef sandwich with au jus, homemade giardinera peppers (!) with the tasty thin sliced ribeye.
– Biscuits and Gravy
– Wedge Salad…
It was hard to choose but we headed in and split a cheesesteak with fries and hit a side of their giardinera peppers. It had plenty of melted cheese, chopped ribeye and caramelized onions. Very tasty! $16 and two kinda hungry folks can split it. Side of peppers… were about a dollar. Well worth it.
I think next time we’ll split the chicken fried steak. Can’t wait!

Fun and funky arcade and lounge. Great food choices and lots of featured drinks. Ordered at the bar and the food came out to the table super quick and it was all really good. The drinks are poured very generously, and they’re priced fairly, so you’re really getting a deal. Same with the food. We caught happy hour, so a lot of the food was discounted but the portions were still regular sized. We got a bunch of appetizers to share and everything was delicious. Great music on the speakers, nobody loud and obnoxiously talking, just a nice time. We’ll definitely be back again soon.

I have been house sitting in the area so I have been coming here way more than usual. My first impression was that the patio was warm and the bartender’s friendly and the tacos were delicious but tonight I had one of the female bartenders be so rude to me that I had to leave. She was so condescending. I make hardly enough to live on but I have been coming to this bar most days to get cheap tacos and social interaction. She treated me like a leper cause of the form of silver I tipped her in. Yuck! She has longish dark hair and extreme eyeliner. I wouldn’t let her wait on you!

Better than you’d think!

Portland has high standards when it comes to bar food, especially fried bar food. This place has it covered because the amount of fried dishes is very impressive.

The atmosphere is quirky since it’s obviously a themed bar. There’s a lot of outdoor seating (with limited heaters) and the indoor area is on the smaller side. Tables cleared up pretty regularly though so it wasn’t a big deal to find seating.

The service was good and the line to order moved fairly quickly. it was a busy night so we were waiting a bit longer than usual for the food, but it was nice that they gave us an estimated wait time.

The chicken fingers were high quality and juicy with really good seasoning levels. It was slightly, just a little bit soggy. Maybe it could have used 1 min or so more in the fryer. But it was trivia night (pretty packed) so I’ll give them a pass and I’m looking forward to trying it again. The fries and tots that you can choose with the dish were perfect though, no notes.

Mac and cheese was classic tasting and I very much appreciate that the macaroni was the perfect doneness. I’d recommend you eat it before any of the fried food though since the fried stuff was more salty and made the mac n cheese taste a bit more bland, but that’s an illusion due to the previous saltiness.

The wedge salad was fine! Honestly nothing to write home about. It was the necessary fresh, veggie dish to balance the crispy goodness.

I was skeptical about the fried Uncrustable since I’m not really a fan of a regular one. But the fried version makes it 10x better, as any fried food does naturally. We got it topped with the ice cream which definitely was the move because it helped temper the extreme gooey richness of the uncrustable.

The space balls were fun, not only in name but also taste. It’s flavor packed smoky and cheesiness and on the richer side, so it’s a good appetizer dish to split with the table.

The nachos were my least favorite but I also don’t like nachos so I don’t feel it’s fair for me to review them.

Overall, it Space Room Lounge serves great bar food and I’m looking forward to trying more!

This place is what it is. You’ll either like it or you won’t. Dive bar aficionados who enjoy a nice, enclosed, huge patio will love it. Those who enjoy playing a wide arrangement of pinball machines will also find themselves pretty satisfied. Air hockey? Yep. Plus some classic arcade games, if you’re into that sort of thing. The chicken wings are some of the best around. As I said before, this place isn’t for everyone, but there is a lot to like about it.

alex a
decent bar with a good atmosphere but the vibes are just SO BAD, i don’t think i can come back anymore. i’ve been 3 times and overall, the service is consistently lackluster and even borderline passive aggressive. this review is mainly for our experience going for the restaurant but to clarify, our experience visiting the bar at night wasn’t much better.

my bf and i came in monday 2/23 and waited over 35 mins for our breakfast food. There were probably a total of 10 of us in the whole restaurant. the majority of patrons were drinking, and there were only 1 other table was eating. the kitchen is clearly understaffed.

we had to ask for an update since no one bothered to give us one. when the food was finally dropped off, the blonde bartender working literally didn’t say a word and when i said thanks she said “mhm” and quickly walked away. i asked for overmedium eggs but received over hard and had to stand up and follow her to the kitchen to ask them to correct it.

again, it was dropped off with no words and another passive “mhm”. girl! we tipped you for service and you gave us none at all. work aside, just be a nicer human. “We’re so sorry about that!” would have gone SO FAR. but yall are just so consistently rude it seems?

i’m not sure what’s happening behind the scenes or if these workers need a raise maybe.

i really think management needs to re-assess how important good service is to a business and invest in more staff! a lot of people enjoy your breakfast online and you appear and act like a dine in restaurant (your bill asks for a tip, you use real plates and utensils, your prices are competitively high) but the service is more reflective of subway (not ONCE are we checked on or given an update about our late food, not once are we checked on after to ensure quality, hence why i had to walk to the kitchen to ask for the fix)

they just truly don’t seem like they care at all about the people who help keep the business running.

in 2026, there’s too many business to choose from for me to go to one that treats its patrons like crap. Tom’s Restaurant is a better choice for breakfast.

The food was excellent with great prices. We did drag brunch and then had great deals on mimosa buckets.

“Accidentally Had a Religious Experience at Dive Bar”

Space Room. Same dim light, same peeling galaxies. The bartender already had my two-dollar beer in hand before I sat down—routine. But tonight I stopped him.

“Not that,” I said. “Reach for the gin.”

He froze. “Whoa. Didn’t expect that.”

I nodded. “Yep. It’s my grandmother’s drink. She’d be proud of me today.”

That’s all I said, and it was enough for the five of us, myself included, to be just a little enchanted and moved by what was unfolding. The barflies leaned in, waiting for more, but silence carried it. The tonic hissed, ice cracked, and I raised the glass:

“To Ruth.”

They echoed it back. Glasses lifted. And just like that, Space Room got warmer—like someone else had pulled up a chair. Someone only us in this small moment could see.

I closed the night with the usual two-dollar beer. But I left knowing this place can hold both the ridiculous (see patio sign: “the medical term is diarrhea, guys”) and the sacred.

Five stars? No. All the stars in the sky.
