What a gem! I came from L.A and was missing true Mexican food and this place has it for sure. Home made horchata, delicious tortas, and kind employees. Pretty busy around noon when I went. The caldo de mariscos looked and smelled AMAZING! I will be back to try that next! They even have drink options. Store on the other side so you can buy all your sauces, spices, and everything in between. Don’t knock it till you try it.

What a nice surprise! From outside I was really not sure whether I wanted to go in or not. Decided to make an adventure and was so happy that I did turned out to be a nice quaint little Mexican restaurant. Staff was nice and attentive. Food was excellent portion was good for the price. Would recommend it to anyone. Oh, Bathroom was clean but the toilet didn’t flush.

So today my mom and I went to get lunch here to try it out. We arrived around 12pm and we were waiting for at least 5 mins and there weren’t any customers. There was one woman who was grabbing ice but had her coat and hoodie up and weren’t sure they were open. We nicely asked if they were open. She said in Spanish, “yea”. That’s it. So we sat down and waited a couple more minutes to be served. She never greeted or said anything and just stood there so we said our order and immediately felt like we were bothering her. Then another worker came around and they both were just talking and she was on her phone. We heard talking about what we had ordered but didn’t hear exactly what was said. It was just quiet and awkward there. I went to the restroom and there was dead ROACH in the restroom. I wish I would’ve taken my phone but I wish I would’ve gone back to take a pic. We thought maybe the food would be okay…. It got worse because a few more minutes went by and the server got on a phone call on LOUD SPEAKER!!! She continued to talk on the phone on loud speaker the entire time, EVEN while SHE CAME TO GIVE US OUR FOOD. We never saw her wash her hands in between using her phone and handing our food. We were so SHOCKED because We couldn’t imagine the amounts of germs and bacteria on her phone. Like it takes 20 secs to wash hands… We could still hear her entire phone conversations the entire time which just made us uncomfortable. The food was okay maybe like a 4/10 but it wasn’t to die for. We both got the seafood soup. Everything was just MEH. The vibes were just weird and the server was not nice whatsoever.

THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. WE ORDERED CARNE ASADA TACOS AND THE MEST WAS ALL MEAT FAT . THE HOST HAD A TERRIBLE ATTITUDE AND WAS ON HER PHONE WHILE SERVICING US AND TALKING ON THE LINE. DID NOT WANT TO EXCHANGE A DRINK THAT WAS MADE FROM DIRTY WATER .

My husband and I stopped in here for dinner tonight. The restaurant was empty and the TV was on so loud you could barely talk. When we were seated we asked the server if they had margaritas,he said yes and I asked if it came out of machine. He said, no we make them. We ordered two margaritas and a woman showed up at our table with two glasses of a frozen machine mix. It tasted very artificial and when we asked the server if they could not make a margarita he said they had no tequila. At that point we decided to leave and go to another restaurant so cannot comment as to the food.

Best tacos on the Westside, hands down. This place is authentic and delicious. The people who gave it poor reviews are looking for Cancun. My kids devour their carnitas tacos, every time we try something new it’s on point. Their caldos are incredible. I have three kids and they all had adult entrees, as well as my husband and myself . . . and our bill came to 52. With plenty of leftovers. Yes your server may not speak English. But the menu is easy and they are patient. Highly recommend.

This place is very unsanitary. High prices for cheap quality food. It’s not even authentic or handmade. The drinks are artificial and they were really bad at attending people. They also mess up your order and almost made us pay more than we were supposed to. They aren’t professional and the food tasted DISGUSTING. Never come here it’s a waste of money and time. All the good reviews are lying to you. I am very honest about all the reviews I post and this place by far has been the worst Mexican restaurant I ever been to. I wish I could rate 0 stars.

Summary: authentic mom and pop Mexican food on the west side

When reviewing eateries, context is key.
This is not a Michelin restaurant, not does it have tablecloths or fancy art or anything over the top. The beauty of this restaurant is its authenticity. This is real, home made Mexican food.

I ordered the chicken mole. It’s tough to find good mole around here. A lot of the chain-like restaurants serve their mole too sweet and not enough of the earthy goodness found in a true traditional mole.

San Luis Grill nailed it. It was one of the best mole dishes I’ve ever had!

The atmosphere is mom and pop. There is a small grocer attached next door (through which you enter and exit). It’s very clean and well lit.

We enjoyed our dishes with some varieties of Mexican made beer (Corona for myself, Modelo for my buddy).

This is a great haunt for those lovers of authentic and delicious Mexican food. Knowing some espanol is helpful but not necessary. If you only speak English, just be patient and kind to any staff.

I’d driven past here a million times, not realizing there was actually a restaurant. I always thought it was just a market. Food was delicious. They have a homemade hot sauce that they served with the chips that was amazing. I bought some to bring home. Happy hour 3 – 6 and the beer and margaritas were very reasonably priced. I’ll definitely be back.
