I quite like the concept and decor of the restaurant; dishes for one person (instead of usual ‘to share’) in a hip vibe/decor. Good for either quick meal or catch up with friends. However, the food and service left much to be desired. We ordered pad krapow (pork) with kway tiew nam tok (beef). They are okay at best for Thai food; still Thai food but not very well flavoured. One common thing for both of them are that they’re quite sweet. The part I’m most surprised is the staffs were quite unfriendly – they never smile once, not even when I picked a tip option, just a ‘thank you’, no smile – kind of want to change to no tip option after that but what’s the point of arguing. Quite a contrast to the rest of Edinburgh I experienced; people there are friendly and nice.

The best Thai I’ve had. The earlier menu makes it even better value. Chatty servers & amazing food every time.

We had a mid-size group, and all felt like something quick and easy for dinner after a big day touring around Edinburgh.

A few of us did a quick search and this led us to Ting Thai. The service was fast and friendly, and the whole process, from booking a table, to ordering our meal to settling up, was easy.

They were busy, the food came out fast, was consistently tasty and the flavours were well-balanced. It is clear they’ve got their rhythm down.

It was just as we’d hoped. Definitely a reliable and enjoyable spot for a casual dinner, where you aren’t chasing a flashy experience, and just want good service, without the waiters trying to put on a performance or make friends.

It is yummy food, a relaxed place for a few beers and to enjoy a chat among yourselves, or like us, to sit quietly, content and happy to be together with loved ones, and grateful that we didn’t have to overthink what to have for dinner.

Food here is really good and reasonably priced. We ordered a selection of dishes to share between two. 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 sides and it was the perfect amount for a big feed. This location is walk ins only but was relatively empty around 5:30pm on a Sunday when we went. All the food came at the same time and arrived very quickly after we ordered. Everything tasted freshly made and had unique flavour.

Our only issue was that the doors to the restaurant seem to be left open all the time which means a lot of noise from the street and traffic. Also there was a lot of small flies in the dining area which was a little off putting when eating.

Ordered a large order on Deliveroo and was happy to wait about an hour for it because Ting Thai make great food! I eat at ting Thai frequently and always enjoy it. However, obviously the staff that pack the food into bags and check them before they send them out are not very good at what they do, because for the third time, the Lothian Road branch have sent me the wrong items, and missed items from my order. The employee on the phone informed me that they do not have a courier service so they cannot send out the missing items and they weren’t able to offer any compensation from their end, asking me to use the Deliveroo app to get a refund. This is a shame! I note that every time the order has arrived cold or with wrong/missing items it is always the Lothian Road restaurant that the order has come from. On the phone, the employee told me “obviously we’re very busy” – I think if you are very busy and you therefore expect to mess up orders then you should not be accepting orders.

The food that did arrive (at least the items that were correct) was delicious and arrived warm. So we know that the mistake was not with the people who cooked the food. The faults here are with the front of house staff who packed and checked the order, and the person who took my call who clearly could not have cared less that one of our party would not be getting their order after waiting so long for it.

I was willing to keep trying with this restaurant because the food arrives is usually tasty, but in future I will order Thai food from elsewhere! I would caution other customers from trying ting Thai when it is busy in person, but also from ordering at any time because you aren’t guaranteed to get what you pay for, and you might wait 90 minutes and be left hungry and £70 poorer!

Ting Thai should look at employing more competent staff at Lothian Road!

Great spot for speedy good Thai food in town – fast service, good drinks options and delicious food – spicy margs are great!

Love the sea-bass stir fry with side of steamed veg / healthy and delicious and all the Thai curries!! Great menu choice – think we’ve tried it all!!

They’ve got a spot at George square during fringe festival too / crispy prawns – yum!!

Superb food and staff. I had belly pork in massaman sauce with potatoes and peanuts and it was beautiful. My wife had pork moo yang (I think!!!) We also had chicken wings, boiled eggs, and sweetcorn fritters, and all of them were very good indeed. We also both had drinks. Staff were also very good, and service could not be faulted. We will definitely be back.

Was in at the weekend with my family from USA for our first meal of the holiday. We just wanna say WOW thankyou Ting-Thai. Seriously some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had! We’ve heard Scottish people are friendly but the staff here were absolutely wonderful and so accommodating with my mother’s dietary requirements, even though it was very busy we had a great chat and received some great recommendations on things to do while we are here i. Edinburgh. We will definitely back before our trip is over – Max

Came here for dinner before our usher hall show. Heard great things about this place, and wow.. did not disappoint. The girls were so accommodating and although looked fully booked they were able to sit us down. The service was unreal and the food was amazing. Couple of the tables were giving them a hard time… despite them clearly being very busy. I’ll definitely be back!!

Decent Thai food in a nice casual setting. A good range of dishes but the taste of the dishes didn’t blow me away in terms of depth and authenticity. The chicken breast in the curries was a tad overcooked and dry and was hard to finish. Had to wait 40min for a table but not their fault. My biggest gripe was that the prices shown on the menus at the table were about 40% higher than the prices shown on the menu on the website. Eg website currently says £8.60 for Khao Sawy but I paid £12.60 in store.
