This is a review only for macarons.
I tried other macarons in surrounding areas and cafe Francais had the best ones.
I tried a few and coconut rose is my favorite. Ginger lime piqued my curiosity. It’s not bad.
It’s a small shop with few seating. They do have free parking unlike the other shops we visited for worse macarons.

Our first visit but not our last. I wanted to try everything. It’s all beautiful, it’s all art. There is art on the walls and in the pastry cases. A lot of the art you get to eat! I tried the Caramel Carrot Cake Smasher and it was a lovely treat that I savored and didn’t rush through, because I didn’t want it to end. The first bites were delightful, but as the experience developed, I was met with a blissful surprise. And then, another. I’ll let you find out for yourself. Go.

The only french style bakery in Tucson, so for that reason it’s good. Pastries are decent, although not as good and more expensive than the best options in other cities. Coffee was horrible, asked to add only a small amount of flavor and it tasted like it was half syrup. If I come back I would just get pastries to go.

It was our first time to go to this place. We wanted to try it out and gets a little treat for our Valentine’s party. When we got home and opened the bag, we realized we did not get what we ordered. So I left the party and returned to the store. They gave me what I ordered, but no apology. I expected that they would do something to make things right. Like a coupon to entice me to come back get a discount, or something. All I got from the woman who waited on me was a blank stare. I called back to leave a message so the owners would know what happened. I man picked up the phone and said he heard my conversation with a person who took my order and gave me the wrong thing. I told him I would like to be a satisfied customer and recommend their place to my friends. Nothing satisfying from the conversation. The man said that I probably don’t fit with their business. We will not be going back. My recommendation is to go someplace else for French pastry. The pastry from this place was not very good anyway.

I’ve now been to both locations of Cafe Français and they’re basically the same, as far as I can tell. The Alvernon location has a few outdoor tables if you feel like snarfing down an amazing pastry in the middle of one of the busiest intersections in Tucson, which I did. Anyway, the mini kouign amann was the star of both locations. (The counter folk just call it a “queen” for short, whew) I asked and they said they always make these, which is a relief because it might be addictive.
On one occasion I thought it would be a good idea to take it home and heat it up in the oven, but then the delightfully crunchy caramelized sugar melts and runs off. DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!! Just eat it—it’s absolutely perfect.
They frequently change up the other offerings, which is pretty cool because they have some creative flavor combinations and I wanted to try practically all of them.
-I tried a pistachio danish, which was a little too sweet for me, but I’m not acclimated to eating sweets.
-the madeleines were chocolate dipped and had a sugary, crunchy chocolate drizzle plus cacao nibs. I actually prefer them plain, but didn’t see any plain ones. Maybe sometimes they have plain?
-the eclairs are just lovely and everything you’d hope them to be, not inexplicably filled with whipped cream instead of custard like they are at that other “French” bakery! (Not naming names here).
This is now one of my favorite spots in Tucson. I only wish they were open every day, because every now and then we need a little something special to get us through M, T, and W.

I have been looking for bakery options on the East side of Tucson, and this bakery exceeded my expectations. It is on the smaller side, but they use their space very well by lining the seating against the walls of the establishment. Their display cases were neatly packed with pastries and the labels made it very clear what you were looking at. The staff member that helped me today was super sweet and had great customer service. I ordered the almond croissant, and boy was it worth the money! I will continue to come here and I will continue to recommend this place, as I had a great experience!

I came across this place on social media and was eager to give it a try, especially after seeing the enticing pictures of their croissants. When I arrived, there was still a wide selection to choose from, but I was shocked by the prices at this café. We ordered a regular croissant for $5 and an almond croissant for $8. While the croissants were good, they weren’t exceptional enough to justify the steep price tag. It left a bitter taste in the overall experience. I understand that quality often comes at a higher price, but this just felt excessive, especially for a croissant. Even if they were the best croissants, I wouldn’t willingly pay $8 for an almond croissant. While the flavors were decent, they were just okay pastries. To make matters worse, they added an extra 3% credit card fee, which was the final straw in making it the most expensive croissant I’ve ever had. In the end, it simply wasn’t worth it.

I have had this patisserie bookmarked for well over a year, as someone who LOVES a well made croissant that will take me back to time spent in Europe. They nailed it. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday to get some items for take out. We got the chocolate, strawberry & almond croissants along with a cinnamon role. Sure they are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Absolutely delicious with a nice flakey/crunchy crust, the croissants taste just like the ones I have had in France and Belgium. The cinnamon role was outstanding as well. It is a cute little joint in Wrightstown area, with an outdoor seating area. I am actually thrilled this place is not too close to where I live, as I would likely be about 30 pounds heavier.

I cannot express in words how skilled these bakers are. Which maybe sounds dramatic, but I am being completely serious. I have visited bakeries all over Europe and the quality and flavor of the pastries here are the best I have ever had. You have to come try them yourself. It’s heaven. Plus everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
