This is a Hong Kong–style Cantonese restaurant located in Rowland Heights, and it’s truly a local gem. They specialize in classic Hong Kong Cantonese dishes, and the prices are surprisingly affordable for the quality and portion sizes. The restaurant is usually quite busy, which tells you a lot—locals clearly love this place.
The food is very solid for the price, making it an excellent value overall. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of options to choose from, especially breakfast dishes. From noodle soups to rice plates and traditional Hong Kong café–style items, there’s something for everyone, which makes it easy to come back again and again without getting bored.
This is the kind of neighborhood spot that residents regularly visit—definitely a true local favorite. If you’re looking for affordable, authentic Hong Kong–style Cantonese food with lots of choices and great value, this place is highly recommended.

I stumbled across this place when looking for an HK food breakfast spot that opens early.

I had to use GPS to navigate to the doorstep because I didn’t realize Tam’s Noodle House actually has a storefront labeled “HK Macau Bistro”.

The space is large and comfortable, whimsically decorated in HK nostalgic paraphernalia like the skyline in neon lights, the rows of pineapple buns on display at the entrance like a work on modern art, and actual mahjong sets under the glass tabletops. The branded serving ware are fun and colorful.

The menu is extensive, even for breakfast. There are several options for Chinese style and western style combos, but I just wish they had more a la carte options so that I could mix and match. I got:

* Dried scallop congee: excellent flavor, very fluffy. The older folks sitting around me even commented how well the congee was cooked, which is when you know it’s good. There were scant pieces of dried scallop, but I don’t expect tons of ingredients. The bowl was huge and could have been a lunch in itself!

* Pineapple bun sando: this was a whole burger!!! The pineapple bun itself was ginormous, and it was generously stuffed with a pan-fried pork chop, fried egg, tomatoes, lettuce, and sauce. I didn’t know what to expect, but it came together surprisingly well. The bun was perfect, light and fluffy, topped with a satisfying crispy crust.

*HK milk tea: amazing tea flavor, tastes like home. Not too sweet, and they poured me a refill. Bonus points for the classic black and white milk tea cup.

Staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient. I appreciate their hard work to maintain the long hours from 8am to 2am daily. Note they have a minimum if you pay by credit card. My total damage was only $20 (including tip) for a meal that lasted 2 meals plus a drink.

Probably one of the most authentic HK cafes I’ve been to. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area!

I love the fun, old-school Hong Kong cafe vibes here with vibrant colors, mahjong decor, and a lively atmosphere. Even the plates and cups are really on theme, which adds to the experience. The service is quick and efficient. The milk tea is fantastic, and the pineapple buns are a must, soft, fluffy, and so satisfying. Food comes out fast, and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious.
Parking is easy with plenty of spots in the plaza. This has definitely become my go-to place for Hong Kong food,

Overall really enjoyed breakfast here! Came around 10 am on a Saturday and waited about 10 minutes. The food came out super quickly and portions were huge! Ordered 2 breakfast combos and a peanut butter french toast.
Breakfast combo
– Chicken congee with 2 sides: stir fry noodles, rice noodle in house sauce. Really enjoyed all of these dishes but the stir fry noodles were my favorite
– Salty beef egg sandwich with macaroni soup and rice noodle with shrimp: The sandwich was a bit dry, but really liked the soup
– Peanut butter french toast was delicious. Surprisingly not too sweet!

One of our favourite breakfast places in SoCal! Love the old HKG tea house vibe here and the breakfast sets are such great value for money. The congee is great and the stir fried noodles is seasoned just right. The chicken chop is huge just for one person and it comes with toast too!

Good food, good portion size. Lemon tea is better than other HK cafe in this area. Service is good and fast. Lots of seating, and each table is not small (no cramped feeling). Open late.

This is one of your typical hong kong cafe in USA. They didnt include a cafe in their name but just want people to have w better understanding what restaurant is this.

This place is located in plaza on Nogales and Colima. There is a big parking lot for all the stores in it.

The food from this place is decent and its clean inside. Staff is friendly and helpful.

It’s pretty busy for a Saturday night, but we didn’t have to wait to get seated. Ordered all the usual for a Hong Kong style Cafe. My daughter always picked the safe bbq pork over rice. It’s a bit too sweet for the sauce poured over rice, but it’s manageable with the amount of veggies served alongside. Chicken wings are good, so is the baked spaghetti. ⚠️ the baked spaghetti takes a while to show up, so order something else or nibble on someone else’s food first 🙂 Overall, we like it. This restaurant can be be on repeat whenever we’re in Rowland Heights area.

(9/9/2023) A Cantonese restaurant spot is the same as Old Day Tasty Garden. Service is good and friendly. Prices are okay and worth it in my opinion. But one of my foods is coming out slower than usual. The food is pretty good and I recommend House Steamed Chicken and Beef Fried Rice. One of the downsides is no lunch special compared to other Cantonese Cafe. Probably one of the spots I would back for Cantonese food.
