Opened in May 2021, bar avec is nine-time James Beard-award winning group One Off Hospitality’s rooftop interpretation of the laid-back outdoor cervecerias signature to the Iberian Coast, coupled with sweeping views of Chicago’s towering skyline. Located on the 8th floor of sister concept avec River North, the inviting open-air retreat captures the light and airy spirit of Spanish and Portuguese shoresides. The leisurely vibe is complemented by simply prepared seasonal vegetables and seafood-forward shared plates by One Off’s Executive Chef Paul Kahan and Culinary Director Perry Hendrix. Like the food, bar avec’s cocktails are designed to be enjoyed outdoors, Bar avec is open seasonally from April – October.

A fantastic venue with exceptionally beautiful views. Two of us recently went here for some non alcoholic drinks. We had phony negroni & lust for life lite and both of those were very tasty. We haven’t had any food, so I cannot comment on that. If you are out and about in Chicago and want to experience spectacular views whilst having a drink/chat, this place should be in your list Thanks

Definitely a mixed experience here! Great service and beautiful atmosphere. A perfect place to get drinks with friends and family or to celebrate a special occasion.
The food was a little of a let down, nothing was particularly bad but also nothing that stood out to us. For the prices, the portions were very small (pizza is a very small flatbread) and there was nothing special about the food to us that made the prices justified.
Would maybe come back here for drinks and social events but will not be coming here specifically for the food.

Visited with my colleagues on a work trip to Chicago and really enjoyed the experience. The view and atmosphere make for a great casual hangout. We ordered one large plate and a handful of appetizers including fries, crostini, octopus, artichoke, and roast fish. Of them all, the roast fish large plate was the most memorable. It was seasoned perfectly with the right amount of crisp. To wash down the bites, we ordered a few rounds of cocktails. A table favorite was one that included hibiscus, which made the drink a bright pink. The cocktails were well-balanced, fusing flavors without losing the essence of the base liquor. Overall, a memorable experience. If you’re okay paying a little extra for the view, give it a go.

the food and drinks were delishhhh, and a great view to top it off! the plates are mostly shareables so this is a great spot for small groups or date night. the service was quick and the staff very nice! my group each had a drink and shared the charcuterie (3ppl), this was filling for us and we each paid around $40 , i recommend reserving a table online beforehand 🙂

Such a cute bar! I’ve been wanting to go for a while and it was definitely worth it! It’s fully covered outdoor seating which makes for beautiful views. The drinks and food were fantastic as well. The service was friendly and fast so would recommend to anyone looking for an upscale bar with some beautiful views of the city from River North!

Loved the atmosphere of Bar Avec and it has the most incredible city views! Solid food as well which is especially great because I wasn’t drinking tonight, although the cocktails did look amazing!
Highly suggest going just before sundown to get both daytime and night time views. Although at night, there’s a bit of harsh white lighting from the pool area so I don’t recommend sitting on that side if you can. Wasn’t as windy as expected either!

This place is a great spot for relaxing afternoon or pleasant summer night. The view is amazing! Food and cocktails were outstanding. Our server Emily made this experience even more enjoyable.
