A great place for lunch. Prices are a bit high but one gets a lot of food for the money, a lot of good, quality food. Whether it’s a sushi roll or one of the hibachi dishes, it was never disappointing. The staff is friendly and the service is quick with a sense of no-nonsense efficiency to it. While sitting around the grille is very popular in this type of restaurant, the bar counter is where it’s at. Some of the best sushi in the city is being prepped right on the other side of the counter.

Absolutely delicious to sum up experience in two words. It’s Friday night and I have no idea why this restaurant is empty. Wish I lived here because this would quickly become my go-to Japanese restaurant. I ordered the Red Dragon roll and the Volcano roll they were both phenomenal. Perfect flavoring without overwhelming the taste of the amazing fresh fish.
The service was phenomenal, friendly, helpful and attentive. I enjoyed a bottle of sparkling Sake with a fruity strawberry flavor. If you are like me and prefer girly drinks then definitely give it a try, tasted like a refreshing wine cooler.
Whether you are a resident or visitor totnhr Blue Ash area, KanPai should be an absolute must stop destination. Next time I’m here I will give the Hibachi a try!

Slightly disappointed at the food taste… miso soup is bland, tuna tataki feels very dry and rather tasteless. I don’t see the Japanese pepper. The spicy tuna roll is too spicy… but salmon sashimi looks very fresh. Food is prepared relatively fast and packed well

My friend Andrea recommended this place to me and I must say – I am super impressed! Everything was super tasty. We got the Bengals roll and it’s probably one of the best sushi rolls that I’ve event had. Not to mention they have fantastic miso soup! I will definitely be coming back soon.

Greatly missing the food there after moving out of the area. The food was always great, the service was spectacular, and always good to eat there. If you are ever in the Blue Ash area, this is a place to definitely visit for lunch or dinner.
Adding to this after reading some other reviews is that even if someone were to have a bad experience, which does appear to be very infrequently, the staff goes out of their way to try and make it right. Not many places are that concerned with their service. I have always enjoyed eating there for both the food and the service, so now my goal is just to convince them to move down to where I am now 🙂

I feel bad about only giving this place three stars, but it does not yet deserve more. However, the place is brand new and they are improving rapidly, so I may have to write an updated review in a few months.
First off, the staff are great. The head sushi chef is always happy and talkative and wants to make you food perfect. The wait staff are also very attentive.
The food, however, is rather hit or miss. I have had some sushi rolls that were amazing while others were not very good at all. I have a suspicion that the bad rolls were made by the apprentice, but I can not confirm that. For example, on the same day for lunch I ordered a specialty roll called the “Samurai Roll” which was excellent and later ordered a normal spicy tuna roll which was just bad. The spicy tuna was not fresh and way too spicy (could not taste the fish).
I have a feeling that the chefs will improve (they are quite young) and the restaurant will settle in nicely. Don’t discount this little place. The sushi chef is ambitious enough to make something good of it if everything goes well.

Our favorite sushi restaurant in Cincinnati. My husband and I always get excellent service when we go in, and we often take our 3 1/2 year old son with us. Our son loves the hibachi steak and their Japanese sodas. The sushi is very fresh and innovative. My husband and I can’t get enough of the sushi and take everyone who comes to visit us there. Can’t wait to go back!

We had a large group dine at KanPai tonight – what a great experience! Our teenage daughters took up the hibachi grill while parents sat at the large table in the dining area. The staff was ready for us and were very, very good. The food was excellent, whether it came from the hibachi or the kitchen. I had the rocket roll which came out flaming, unique and it didn’t disappoint!

The service and food were amazing. My daughter was being finicky but the server was in good spirits. If you can hold your composure with kids acting up, you get 5 stars in my book. The hibachi chef was friendly and entertaining. We will definitely go back.
