After about a 20-minute wait, the owner started to approach us but was stopped by another customer. Thankfully, she remembered we had arrived first, which we appreciated. She was very helpful in explaining the menu and letting us know what items were in or out of stock.
Unfortunately, after ordering, the experience went downhill. Customers were visibly frustrated with the long wait times. We stayed patient, hoping the food would be worth it. To note, there were only two staff members working — a man and a woman. While the woman was working hard plating and preparing orders, the man sat around and did nothing, which made the wait even longer. It seemed the woman didn’t mind, but it definitely impacted the service.
What confused us most was the fact that the food was already in stainless steel steam table pans — all she had to do was plate it. There was no reason it should have taken over an hour to receive our order.
As for the food: the BBQ chicken was the only item we genuinely enjoyed. The crab and salmon pasta was bland, watery, and the crab had a fishy taste. The corn was topped with margarine instead of butter, causing it to separate and become watery as well. We also ordered a side of coconut rice, hoping it would redeem the meal, but it was just as disappointing — no coconut flavor at all, more like brown rice with beans — and it cost $5.18.
While the owners were friendly and welcoming, unfortunately, the food and overall experience left a lot to be desired. We won’t be returning.
The platters literally weight 10 lbs., that’s how much food you get and it’s delicious . I’ll let you drool over my photos.
But not before I talk about the feeling you get when you walk through the door. You literally feel like you’re visiting family. The young ladies are so pleasant, personable, and has awesome spirits. You feel the pleasantries as you talk to them. THANK YOU you know I’ll be back for more!!
The caribbean flavors were pretty accurate. Staff was very friendly and fun. The wait was wayyy long. I think there is only like three people working there in total. I ordered and was told 45 minutes I came later and still waited an additional 20 minutes. I had the seafood boil, rice and beans and cabbage the seafood wad as fresh as you’re are going to get in the middle of nowhere. The sauce was very addicting though, rice was burnt but had a good flavor cabbage was cabbage.
I was not expecting the steep prices because the menu is unorganized. There is an upcharge for the fish which I didn’t see because it’s in small print. Now to describe the food. The fish was fried well just unseasoned the sweet potatoes we’re canned sweet potatoes and the Mac and cheese was tasteless. The service was ok, there was conversation. I wish I would have eaten there so I could have complained about the food in person. Overall I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to stop by especially if you are traveling.
