Hailed from Sacramento just to try out at this Malaysian restaurant in Pleasanton over the Malaysia National Day weekend. Ordered special dish Nasi Kerabu, roti canai with curry chicken, char kuey teow, and curry laksa. Everything tasted delicious and generous portions for 4 of us. Not to miss the infamous Kari Puff and Teh Tarik!

Being Malaysians, it was a very satisfying treat!! The cherry on top was the Nyonya kuih, which we craved that we never had living in the US. Hats off to Chef Jai!!

This is the most authentic Malaysian restaurant in San Francisco Bay Area. The cook is a friendly Malaysian and he is a master at creating the dishes. The food is halal, with no alcohol served. There is also no beef, which caters for non-vegetarian Hindus. I visit the restaurant every chance I get. My favorite dishes are nasi lemak and nasi kandar, with with various combinations. Also love the mee goreng and char-keuh-tiaw, as well as the teh (tea) and kopi (coffee) tarek (latte). Portions are good and prices are typical for the area. Highly recommend!

Tried this place in Pleasanton today. The food tastes good and closed to the actual south-east Asian cuisine. It is kind of semi-self service. You order from the kiosk or directly from the cashier. Overall, if you are in neighborhood and want to try some south-east Asian food, check this curry leaves bistro.

Friendly restaurant serving authentic Malaysian food: very flavorful and spicy food, the atmosphere is relaxed and practical. Service was excellent, fast and everything very clean. They are also optimized for takeout.
I had Penang Asam Laksa and it was wonderful, exactly as I remembered it! We also had a Nasi Kandar with grilled chicken (so tasty!) and Nasi Lemak with lamb rendang, also excellent!
Highly recommended for anyone looking for real, comfort Malaysian food with fresh and quality ingredients.

My third time visiting this restaurant and it never disappoints! Loved how authentic each dish tastes. As a Malaysian, this is still the best Malaysian food I’ve tried here. Totally love their asam laksa and it’s a must order dish for me everytime I visit. I also love their variety in nasi kandar selection. The ambience was great and totally makes me feel like I’ve returned back to Malaysia when i walk in. Owner and workers are all very nice and friendly. Would always recommend!!

This is my Malaysian family’s favorite Malaysian restaurant.

The food is delicious and authentic.

Jai is a passionate chef, frequently bringing new dishes to the menu and curating special dining events, like a recent AYCE Penang Hawker Food Fest.

On top of that, it’s incredible how he’s created a community spot for Malaysians and Singaporeans (some even driving from 4+ hours away for his food).

Some of my favorite dishes here over the years:
-Penang Assam Laksa (not to be confused with curry laksa)
-Char Koay Teow (fried noodles)
-Char Koay Kak (fried rice cubes)
-Belacan Fried Chicken
-Penang LoBak
-Roti Canai

I thought the food was pretty good overall. I was a little bummed that they didn’t have any hot beverages, but aside from that, everything else was solid. This is probably the closest I’ve come to authentic Malay food in the US.

The roti canai was a bit on the thicker side — more of a personal preference, since I tend to like mine thinner. The sambal that came with the nasi lemak leaned a bit sweet for my taste. That said, the spicy mee goreng was absolutely delicious — definitely the highlight for me.

One of the few authentic Malaysian restaurants you can find in the Bay Area. I recommend their Mamak Fried Chicken, Mee Goreng, and Assam Laksa (follow their FB page for heads up on weekend specials). You can also get good Teh Tarik here although sweetness is not adjustable.

On special occasions, you could pre-order Ngoh Hiang or Hokkien Bak Zhang. The owner being a Penang native, never disappoints with these dishes.

This is great Penang food. I have been here a few times. As a 6 ft talk white guy, the lady at the register was a little amazed I liked the Penang Laksa. She triple verified that I like this type as it is sour and strong fish flavor. Last time I was here I called ahead a the chef was nice to make me a special order that I requested. Great guy and loves to smiles on people’s faces with authentic Penang food. They also had a side dessert from local bakery, Pandan Chiffon Cake. Yummy
