Disappointed again… I’m a transplant from the Southwest and I’ve been trying Mexican food around the Berkshires. This misses the mark just like most of the places around here.

The restaurant was very nice inside; they did a great job renovating the place and it had a nice atmosphere. There’s a small bar to sit at and enjoy a drink and a bite.

The food was bland at best. I got the El Habañero plate so that I could sample a few things and give a fair review. Some of the items were only so-so, some were just not very good or were prepared poorly.

The good: The plate looked pretty good when it arrived, see photo. The beans needed salt but were pretty good afterwards. The empanada was the best part of the meal, but it’s hard to mess up fried dough filled with meat and cheese. That’s about where the goodness ends.

The not-so-good:
The enchilada: It was super dry. They were very stingy with the sauce, and it had very little flavor. Enchiladas should be swimming in thick, flavorful goodness – this had the top barely coated in a weak, thin sauce that didn’t even cover the whole top of the tortilla… sad.

The tamale: it was so-so, lacking flavor but mostly had good consistency. The worst part was that it was microwaved to be reheated… I know this because its ends were dried and burned and i had to discard them (I’ve heated up many a tamale in my time, so I know when they get screwed up). That was a red flag – the cooks haven’t really been trained well, it seems.

The rice: Lastly the rice. Oh man… this was rubbery, bland, instant Uncle Ben’s style rice. Not good at all. You could tell by the chemically, preservative taste that lingers with that kind of pre-prepared rice.

I didn’t finish my meal.

Overall, I really wanted this place to be better. Some of the items were almost there, but they really missed the mark on some others. The prices really didn’t reflect the quality or flavor that they should have been – just too high of prices for some items on the menu.

I really wavered between 2 and 3 stars for this place. I just didn’t like the food, but I’ve definitely had worse in the Berkshires and Pittsfield. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that they improve for future customers, but I won’t be coming back.

The food is authentic Mexican. They nickel and dime you to death with the sides. The guy took the Chipotle hot sauce of the tables and charges for his own “homemade” hot sauce.

Lunch specials are reasonably priced. Just make sure they know you are ordering off the lunch special menu or else they will charge you the full meal rate.

Nice clean place with a friendly staff the food was good although I thought it could be better, the churros were to dense for my taste, the enchiladas were pretty good and the habanero was also good, the popper was hot and very tasty

Really good. I ordered ground beef tacos with spicy salsa for lunch. Flavors were excellent and the spicy salsa is exceptional. Beans and rice were great, which if you like Mexican food is always a bellwether. They have a good lunch special menu and a good selection of beer. Service was really good as well.

I have never left a bad review, most of the time if something isn’t right you just move along and learn a lesson. However, we had such a terrible experience that people should know how horrible the food the presentation everything except for the host who was very nice I would not serve that food to a dog just for instance the refried beans had to have been added with water and put through a blender. It was like a bean milkshake poured on your plate and it was gross with only meat in the shell $20 for the chips and salsa we had to reject one of our plates. We should’ve rejected the whole deal. Hopefully we just came on a bad day. I don’t know who they had duty in the kitchen, but they need to go to school. I’m still very upset. Our group was so sick afterwards to top it off You have been warned!

The food was delicious! I placed on online order for the Birria tacos and they were so good. The rice and beans that come with it were also delicious. We will definitely be coming back to dine in!

The place is nice and the service is great, however prices are insane. I get it that they can’t serve liquor or beer and have to make up for it somewhere but here’s the thing:

Steak Fajitas—18.00
Friends meal —20.00
Two sodas
Chips, salsa and Guacamole

70.00 BEFORE TIP.

So our two sodas (one each) and guacamole were 32.00? That makes no sense.

Also, I’m assuming that even when they have beer and drinks those prices won’t change. The food was good but it didn’t warrant that price and I don’t see them surviving in Pittsfield when you’re surrounded by places that can serve drinks all year round.

This place looks nice, not a corny Mexican decor, and no loud music. I had the chicken enchiladas lunch special with refried beans. The enchiladas were moist and tasty due to the spicy sauce. (Not too spicy but enough to remind you you are eating Mexican food ). I wish they had served more refried beans because they were tasty. I was out the door for a lunch dish, chips and salsa and a soda for ~$12 plus tip. Will return!

I am trying to keep faith the Mexican restaurants in Pittsfield will disprove my disappointments. Having been born and raised in the Southwest, I look for Mexican food as comfort food reminding me of home. Just not the ones in Pittsfield. It’s not easy finding a good Mexican place on the east coast. So, I gave this place another chance, once eating in and this time I did take-out. I ordered the tacos, but the meat was too salty, the corn tortilla didn’t hold and ripped. I ended up shredding it in pieces and ate it with a fork. I didn’t get any sauces, typically you get hot sauces with tacos. The beans and rice were bland and not appealing. The girl server was nice, there was a guy at the counter when I was picking up. He asked if I wanted napkins and forks, I said yes. With his wet hands he threw in the napkins sticking to his hands and shook it off into my bag and threw in the forks. He handed me the wet bag. The establishment is nice, good tables, clean and the decor gives the place a nice touch. My only hope of a good Mexican restaurant is going outside of Pittsfield. The only one who is winning with me serving the best Mexican food in Pittsfield is a food truck called Enchilada Y Chalupa!!
