Jim has the best BBQ and he is happy to give indecisive guests, like me, a good recommendation! Great atmosphere to catch a conversation with friends. I visited last Friday and enjoyed hearing the guys next to me talk about tractors … a good education! Old school and comfortable, and, best of all, consistently great food. His BBQ is great to serve a crowd, too!

Not great, not terrible. Vinegar based pulled pork is the star. The hush puppies were over cooked and oily. The cole slaw is full of vinegar and sugar. Needs a refresh on the side dishes.

I’m from Lynchburg, and get back there 3 or 4 times a year. I’ve always loved it and the red slaw. The pig tail hushpuppies are a must, they’re crispy , you’ll never get home with all of em, so depending on how many you’re feeding, think of 2 bags. The owner is a jerk. I went in and placed an order and went to pay with my credit card. In front of the entire place he asked “ don’t you have any money?” He said he prefers cash. When I get all the way home in Forest with my food, half of it is missing. I call and started to explain and he yelled over me “we close at 3” and then proceeded to hang up in my face. I will never go back. Guess what Mr. Personality~ I prefer to get my food when I pay for it. PS The Brunswick stew is nasty!!

Good Carolina style vinegar based BBQ. Its looks like a dive from the outside and I would have never stopped if a coworker hadn’t talked me into it, but they do cook that BBQ well. They are polite and will keep your tea filled. Worth stopping in for a quick sandwich.

The hushpuppies dipped in honey are AMAZING! The barbecue and slaw are like none other that I’ve ever eaten, yes there are other good barbecue restaurants around that are good, but the Silver Pig is in a class of it’s on, pulled pork perfected to perfection and the service is great. One more thing, the sweet tea taste like mama made it! Keep on keeping on Silver Pig!
