Little Mexico We’re thrilled to bring a taste of authentic Mexican …
Reviews
Now, onto the food:
1. Loaded Nachos
The nachos were served in a very flat dish, which made the portion size seem smaller than expected. The review I had read also mentioned that the restaurant avoids offering side dishes to keep costs low, so this wasn’t a huge surprise. The chicken, however, was cubed, which caught me off guard and felt a bit out of place. The chicken itself was bland, but the cheese and pico de gallo added some much-needed flavor.
2. Chicken Chimichanga
The chimichanga looked appealing at first, but once I cut into it, I found more cubed, bland chicken. This was a major disappointment. However, the combination of peppers, onions, and cheese did salvage the flavor and added some texture to the dish.
The beans and rice were standard—pretty much what you would find at any other Mexican restaurant.
While I understand we’re not in Mexico, this felt more like an average Wisconsin take on Mexican cuisine. It was fine, but honestly, I’d prefer making the drive to another place when I’m craving authentic Mexican flavors.
Thanks for a great experience!!! I put $20 to $30 person because we had yummy chips and dip and a beer a piece.
We were immediately disappointed when we found out it was $5.25 for salsa and chips. The other sit down restaurants in Wisconsin Rapids offer complimentary chips and salsa. We still ordered them and when they were delivered there was, and I’m not kidding, about 20 chips around the salsa (that was in the middle) that was in a round container. Then the salsa was only half full, it wasn’t bad, but the salsas at the other restaurants rated better to us. Since there were so few chips, they were gone in a hurry and so was most of the salsa because it was only half full. I asked for a refill of the chips and was told it would be another $5.25…now we felt ripped off. I wanted a couple tacos and some rice and beans but there were no meals like this so I think ( not 100% sure though) two tacos, rice and beans came to over $14.00. This was just too much. AND ALSO!…I like salsa on my tacos and I asked for some salsa and I received another container of salsa that was half full like with the chips.. I was charged $2.00 for this!!!! So my two taco, rice and beans dinner was over $16.00. Ridiculous Soda was $2.99 a glass and I would hope this is with free refills but we never asked for any.
My wife and son said the food was ok but better at the other mexican restaurants in the area. We left with a $65.00 bill for three people (not counting the tip) and just felt screwed over. It is too bad because they did fix the place up and I know they are just trying to make a living but we just got nickeled and dimed there…or maybe quartered and dollared. We will not be back unfortunately as we had high hopes walking in.
Said oh my I’m so sorry and it should have seasoning and I said your welcome to try cause it don’t. She took my food and came back and said they are going to add seasoning to it! My question was, why wasn’t it seasoned in the first place before it went out? After a bit, the waitress brought me a whole new cooked dish and this time it had seasonings on it and it was amazing after that. My husbands food was bland as well and no flavor existed any where on his fish. He was excited on the size of the fish, but it lacked flavor big time and was sad that no lemons were available and only limes. He said we would come back and he would try a different fish that was offered to try next time. I can only hope the next time we come that the food will be seasoned before it’s served. I get everyone has a different taste and palate, but I can assure you we love flavor and that was the second time we got food and it didn’t have seasoning and was bland, even though she corrected my dish, which I greatly appreciated. I just hope it goes up from here. Excited to see more from this place.
You can tell the food is fresh made authentic. Hand pressed corn tortillas are AMAZING!
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the portions are perfect.
We will be back time and again!
