Found on google and decided to stop in before a show in south philly….very happy with everything. Food was good, prices reasonable, very crowded and busy with a great atmosphere. The servers were so friendly and even with an ordering issue couldn’t stop apologizing and offering to help. Would love to go back! Cash only with ATM.

I was looking for somewhere to just have a nice meal and relax in South Philly… Google Maps brought me here and I’m so glad it did!!
Dessert first – salted caramel espresso martini 10/10
Then I randomly chose the Pepper chicken- another 10/10! Creamy, spicy perfection… and an amount I could have split in half to take home for another meal! (Don’t worry; I didn’t! It was too good!!)
All this with an A+ staff- kind and friendly!
Couldn’t have asked for a better evening! Thanks, Nitty’s! If I’m ever back in Philly, this is definitely where I’ll be eating!

BLUF: warm atmosphere with amazing staff, fast service and delicious food, Dominica was amazing!
My first time in Pennsylvania due to a snowmagedon that rerouted my flight with a subsequent 2 day layover. Short on food in the hotel, I walked to the nearest restaurants in search of food. I stumbled up Nitty’s Tavern.
I was confused at first when I walked through the door; the live DJ and dancing patrons made me think I’d walked into a club. The music was great and I was quickly seated and served.
Dominica (Doh-mi-ni-cuh) was my server and made sure I was taken care of proving menu recommendations for my first time in Philly. My drink came quickly and dessert soon followed (so soon in fact that I was offered the option of storing it until after my meal).
I had the roast beef with mashed potatoes and carrots and was amazed at how tender the beef was. The taste was amazing like a time-tested family recipe. After dinner I was given an extra portion of ice cream for my lava cake without my mention (my server noticed the original order had somewhat meted by time).
I would make a return trip to the city of brotherly love if for nothing else than to experience Nitty’s Tavern once again.
P.S. -cash only according to the menu! Luckily there is an ATM conveniently located for a small transaction fee

I Don’t Know Why This Is Listed As A Restaurant When The Kitchen Was Closed By The Time I Got There (11:35pm) On A Saturday… Most Bars The Kitchen Closes At 1am & Restaurants Typically Take Orders Until Somewhat Close To Close.
Bartender Was Very Nice & Prompt So I Appreciate Her & I Will Also Say That The DJ Was Very Good. I Would Like To Come Back For The Full Experience One Day.

Arrived after food was stopped being served. Bartenders were excellent. Music was okay. Then it got offensive. The N word was said everywhere. It was offensive, Talked to the DJ, he said deal with it. You can’t have it both ways. Then they started verbally attacking me. The bathrooms are downstairs and they are blocked because couples go in and don’t come out for 10 minutes. Meanwhile you have to go to the bathroom somewhere. Not a good place stay away.

I can’t say enough great things about Michelle! She’s not only an amazing waitress and bartender but also one of the friendliest, most genuine people you’ll ever meet. Every time I’m at Nitty’s, she greets everyone with a smile and makes you feel right at home. She’s quick, attentive, and always remembers everyone’s favorite drink and order.
You can tell she truly cares about her customers — and it shows in how she goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great experience. Whether you’re there for a casual drink or a night out with friends, she keeps the vibe upbeat and welcoming.
As a friend, she’s just as wonderful — kind-hearted, hardworking, and full of positive energy. Nitty’s is lucky to have her! 🙂

Five adults went here on a Thuraday evening before a hockey game. We had a reservation and we’re seated early too. The space is small, so the sound was loud from neighboring tables. We ordered the flatbread pizza appetizer and aranchini balls which were good. Then we ordered our main entrees. We waited a little longer than expected for our entrees but they were packed and it seemed like they were cooking to order as they should. The steak was phenomenal. The chicken marsala looked good and so did the chicken parm. I had the eggplant rolled up with ricotta and spinach with the Vodka sauce on top. Honestly my meal had 1 flavor to it and that was the sauce, which is good. But I could have gotten a pasta with the sauce and got the same flavor. So even though the waitress loved that dish, I wouldn’t get it again. I ordered the holiday chocolate espresso martini and it was just okay…I’ve definitely had better. The waitress did amazing even though she was the only one for the whole room. (I’m guessing they were busier than expected due to the hockey game). There was a food runner who was constantly up and down the stairs. There was a girl at the front entrance that was just sitting there (as no one was coming in constantly). I feel as though she should have helped clean dishes off the tables or get drink refills. They have Pepsi products even though the menu and reciept said coke. They have a full bar, tvs, open garage door for warm days.

Everything I tried was delicious! The eggplant Caprese salad was beyond amazing and I already can’t wait to go back again. They also have a dinner menu after 5pm with a few more entrees that I did not see, but will try next time I go.
UPDATE: I came again today for dinner and got the eggplant rolantini and it was very delicious as well. And the crème brûlée cheesecake was sweet, but not too sweet, and not super heavy. I highly recommend it if you like cheesecake, like me!

I lived in South Philly all my life and never stepped into Nitty’s Tavern until Friday, October 10, 2025. I was pleasantly surprised to find the tavern has a neighborhood feel and all the staff were polite and made me feel welcomed. The hostess, Mia, was a delight! She was attentive and very willing to help me with a take-out order. She ensured my order was to my liking. When she had time she would engage in some chit-chat and still tend to her duties. The server, Edward, was a cool dude and also helped me in explaining certain foods that I never had. The bartender, Jaime, was also pleasant. She was busy with other patrons but took her time to help me in explaining to me different drinks. She too engaged in small talk and assisted me in telling me the specials for the day. As Mia brought the take-out to me I asked her for two menus and she was able to accommodate and she said she hopes the dinner will be good, which it was. Another worker, Vinny the driver, was taking orders to his car and informed me they have people to deliver to people’s homes, which I tried on Monday. This Monday I ordered over the phone and two people, Tiffany and Edward, were astounding in how well they took my take-out order. Vinny, the driver, promptly brought my Monday order after calling it in in about 45 minutes. He was courteous upon arriving and the meal was excellent. On Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 I came in to another awesome experience. I wanted to order a hamburger for a relative and Michelle, both bartender and server, took my very specific way of preparing the hamburger and she had the exceeded my expectations for this order. As I waited she explained different drinks I never knew and in between her other customers, bartending duties, and answering the phones she still shared a few moments to spare to talk and I couldn’t have asked for such a nice person and her assisting me in having a correct order to go. All-in-all I couldn’t have asked for three days of good hospitality and plan to frequent this business into the future. I thank all the staff I interacted with and especially three members for truly making me feel appreciated are Mia, Jaime, and Michelle in how they handled themselves in taking orders and serving others and their willingness during their duties engage in conversation so I wouldn’t have felt like an outsider. I comnend the others even thought I didn’t spend time with them but I hope to have future interactions with them.
To all the staff I wish them well and hope the management recognizes each member and can lead to future opportunities within the business for advancement to higher positions, if anyone wants to do so, and this can lead to increases in their wages. They are the real reason I feel comfortable enough to return and also for delicious delicacies. For the staff … THEY ARE ” ECCELLENTE!” Grazie tutti!
