Absolutely delicious. The quality and detail of the food speaks for itself. Down to the way everything is prepared. I haven’t found a place with this style of Mediterranean food since I was in Chicago, the portion size is so wonderful as well. Loveeeeeee, 100% recommend.

Saj Grill on Dubuque Street in Iowa City is a fantastic spot for delicious Mediterranean food. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. The atmosphere is welcoming and perfect for a casual meal in downtown Iowa City.

A great little Mediterranean restaurant addition to Downtown Iowa City. The service was quick, the staff were very welcoming, and they checked to make sure I was happy with my order. I liked the options for customizing your order either with meat or falafel if you want a vegetarian option. I tried the chicken wrap and the falafel and they both tasted good. Flavorful and authentic tasting if you’re comparing to Middle Eastern shawarma and falafel. The chicken wrap was much larger than I expected. I think if you want a lighter meal portion, the wrap would be a good size to split between two people. Got a chance to meet the owner while I was there, and she was very sweet and genuinely cared for making her customers happy. Will be visiting again to try the other menu offerings for sure.

They kept the interior the same as well as the old tables and chairs. Giving the space a lived-in kind of feel.
Everyone working was friendly and smiling despite the daunting amount of online orders that were pouring in.
The food was great, I got the Steak Shwarma Platter and then came back the following week to try out the Lamb Platter. Great stuff guys.

We had a great experience. We tried the Arabi chicken combo, steak platter and gyro cheese burger. The shawarma is very delicious and has the authentic middle-eastern Jordanian taste, esp with the garlic sauce and the serving style (i.e small pieces). Portion size was adequate and we took home some leftovers.
The owner and his family are very friendly. He greeted us and we had a nice chat. He offered free falafel to try, which were tasty, crunchy and fried perfectly.
Great addition to Iowa City. You need to try it.

I always order the chicken shawarma wrap and falafel wrap. Both are consistently delicious. The shawarma is well-seasoned and tender, and the falafel is crispy on the outside and soft inside. What really stands out are the proportions, they’re surprisingly generous for the price.
The service is friendly and fast, and the overall vibe is casual and welcoming. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for quality Middle Eastern food with great value.

I got takeout from their new Coralville location (where the Which Wich used to be) and it was excellent! The chicken shawarma platter was great and I don’t think I’ve had better garlic sauce before. The baklava was also incredible and tasted fresh. Portions were generous and the prices were surprisingly good for Iowa City. I look forward to getting food from here again!
