It was truly wonderful to enjoy such a delicious meal, one of the best we’ve ever had. You can really taste the passion and quality in every dish. We’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend Pescara highly enough, a must visit whilst at the Hunter!
The couple who run it had a hugely popular restaurant in Mosman for years and have brought their love to the Hunter.
The setting is spacious, warm and cosy, yet elegant and stylish. It overlooks a water feature where kangaroos and birds settle.
The staff are wonderful. Warm, kind and they know the menu inside and out.
Food is diverse and includes crab pasta with chilli and garlic, sizzling prawns in a hot pot, duck leg on red cabbage and sweet sauce, beef cheek, lamb sliced on vegetables , and vegetarian options like cauliflower soup. Desserts are huge! And include crepes, brownies and a cold rhubarb crumble.
Wines are global which is a relief, so there are gorgeous Italian wines and wines from
All over Australia as well as the Hunter.
A must visit for romance or groups. Amazing.
Me and my partner had the $85 two course menu.
“Village style Italian” sounded promising. We expected simple but hearty dishes, rustic, packed with flavour and lots of love.
What we got was mediocre at best. The fried zucchini flowers tasted weird, as if the oil was rancid. Same for the potatoes, which were deep fried, soggy and tasted off.
The rigatoni were also extremely greasy, too salty and piping hot so I burnt my mouth. The noodles were not al dented but hard and barely cooked. The duck leg was also bland and greasy and the meatballs were tough and dry while the tomato sauce lacked flavour.
Definitely not what you expect from homely Italian food. Bland, horrible food and small portions are certainly not worth $85 per person!!! It’s a ripoff!
Don’t recommend and will never go back!!
The Spanish anchovies were amazing. I really liked also the arancini. Top quality.
Thank you so much.
After a hard day tasting wines, we did a quick search and found this place right around the corner from our accommodation.
Everything was exceptional from the bread and olive oil to the pasta (crab), to the meat dishes (lamb), to the desserts (pizette).
The waiters were very polite and had good suggestions from the menu and wine list.
The ambiance was subtle, soft and quiet… Fitting but maybe needed some music.
Highly recommended.
