Social Profile:

Genoa Pizza owner Giuseppe Pizzo was born in Detroit, Mich., and he grew up in Italy. He opened his restaurant in Sugar Grove 20 years ago, but the real history dates back to 1975, when his grandfather opened his Genoa Pizza in Genoa, Ill. It all starts with good quality product, Pizzo said. We have a good, quality pizza sauce and pizza dough that was handed down from my Uncle Pete. Pizzo said he started out his work life as a finishing carpenter. When he found himself in hard times, he said his brothers gave him an opportunity, and here I am, 20 years later.

Hands down some of the best pizza in town! Genoa Pizza never disappoints — the crust is perfectly crisp, the toppings are always fresh and generous, you can tell they really care about quality. Checkout the menu, lots of options besides pizza. Great variety!

— friendly, welcoming, it’s one of those cozy local spots you’re so glad to have in the neighborhood.

Whether it’s a quick weeknight dinner or pizza night with family and friends, this is always our go-to. So good every single time

I had Gyros Sandwich and it came out great. I also tried their Philly Steak Sandwich which was wonderful. There is only one table for dine-in customers. What’s more, there is no restroom.

Genoas used to be our go to pizza place for over 20 years. Unfortunately over this past year the quality has gone from great to very poor. We kept giving it another chance, thinking maybe it was just an off night, but tonight we’ve made the decision to never order again. First of all, their prices have gone up dramatically (which I get, but we are talking between $3-$5 per pizza). Second, their pizzas have not been consistent (ig crust extremely burned, then another one not cooked fully). Their quality control is not up to par at all, I had 1 slice that was 1 inch x 3 inches, then another slice, right next to it that was 4 inches x 5 inches. Lastly, we had a lovely blonde hair in our sauce under the cheese. The kicker of it all is they offered me a $10 credit.. No thanks, you can keep that $10, as I’ll never be back.

This is one of the last authentic pizza spots I’ve found in the North Aurora/Sugar Grove immediate vicinity. It’s got lunch specials on a big sign in the front window. It’s got the wood frame screen door that slams. Buffalo chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella Italian Beef with hot G If your from “back-east” you’ll know. It’s small, it personal, it’s delicious. It’s the ambiance of great food. None of that chain, franchise, big corporate bs.

I love the food and service at Genoa’s in Sugar Grove. But I can’t eat most of their foods anymore (I developed diabetes). I can still eat their salads, but all Genoa’s salads come with a bunch of ingredients I cannot or will not eat!

It would be an absolute dream come true if Genoa’s would create a build-your-own salad item on their menu. It would help my wallet to not pay full price for a salad with half the ingredients, and it may increase sales for your salads, since you can charge a little more for separate ingredients then you could for a fixed-price salad.

Pros: Super friendly, helpful staff to order from; excellent flavor to pizza ingredients; special requests were honored right on

Cons: The regular thin crust is quite terrible. It was so tough, even their cutter didn’t cut through it completely. And they were horribly chintzy with the cheese. One of the pizzas was half cheese only, and it was basically sauce, that awful crust, and some vague hint at cheese. The ingredients on the sausage pizza were above average in flavor; but it’s a pizza, so it should have some cheese on it. Particularly when we had to basically only eat the tops because of the inedibility of the crust.

Take-away: May order again with an instruction to make the crust very thin and to actually, you know, put cheese on the pizza, because the sauce and ingredients were quite good.

Ordered delibery. Food came promptly with friendly service.

Food was amazing. The Genoa Special pizza is delicious and the Greek salad had an ample amount of olives.

I stopped in today for a slice since I’ve lived in SG for almost a year now and haven’t tried Genoa Pizza. I am not going to give it 5 stars because it’s the best pizza I’ve ever had, I’m going to give it 5 stars for price and convenience. $2.50 for a slice in this economy cannot be beat! I tried 1 sausage and 1 cheese, personally liked the cheese a little better as it’s just simple. Will definitely return for a Saturday afternoon slice!
