I had the boneless wings with curly fries, which came with celery and carrots. It was exactly what I was craving. The wings were good- not too soggy, not too dry, the chicken was flavorful, and the breading was just right (not tough).
My husband and son had a burger and there were no complaints.
Our server was fantastic. She checked up on us frequently and even offered to-go drinks when we were about to check out.
If I was in the area, I’d come back to shoot some pool. They have a large bar area, slot machines, and several TVs where they play sports games.
Maybe not THE BEST place for the younger ones if that concerns you, but it was lunch time and was ultimately fine. (It does lean more into the Bar side of things rather than the restaurant.)
Had to dock a star for the music…man. Some 90s ish euro disco mix country weirdness and it was LOUD. Like loud for midnight bar shenanigans, let alone lunchtime.
TVs were cool, pretty good mix of content as well, for those that are not drooling sportsball zombies.(Some rodeo, WRC, biking, etc…)
Draft beer selection was pretty decent as well. (NOT the 2 domestic garbage beers and 56 different IPAs that seems to be the standard these days…)
The food was great, we had everything from soup to the wrap, burgers and nuggets. ALL of it was really good.
The service was also really good. Short wait for food and prompt drink service.
I would go back again for sure, glad we stopped in.
The food and drinks are a real highlight. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal, a crisp beer, or a well-crafted cocktail, you won’t be disappointed. Their menu strikes a great balance between comfort and quality, and the bar offerings show real attention to detail.
What makes Fairoak Roost especially unique is its heartfelt tribute to heroes through its memorial memorabilia. The decor honors veterans and first responders in a way that’s both respectful and deeply moving. It adds a meaningful layer to the overall experience and sets it apart from other spots in the area.
Conveniently located just off the I10 in northwest San Antonio, it’s absolutely worth the visit. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Fair oak Rooster offers an experience that’s as satisfying as it is memorable.
Highly recommended — come for the food and drinks, stay for the camaraderie.
Took several minutes for someone to notice our group. Very limited food menu, and did not have pizzas or draft beer, and it was very hot inside like the AC was broken. The deviled egg appetizer was good. The boneless wings did not seem high quality, but were sauced well. Would not do more than one sauce per order, many other places do this. “Twister fries” are tater tots. I would assume curly fries but that’s not what we got. Nothing on the menu specifically for kids.
Overall, the remodel looks great and I think there’s a lot of potential here. We will try again later after they iron out some kinks.
First the good: If you are looking for a bar with plenty of room and TVs then this might suit you. The staff was friendly and the burgers we ordered were of good size and tasted good. The food came out within a decent time from being ordered.
Now the not so good: The menu is very limited (yes this is a bar, but the offerings are more limited than any other bar/pub we’ve been to in the area). The menu now (see pics) is even smaller than when they opened. We were told by an employee this is because they don’t have the storage for a bigger menu. They said a ‘few’ more items might be added in the future. But, if you are coming with the expectation of having more to eat, you might be disappointed. The burgers only come with tater tots (standard tots)…not even fries are available. Service, while friendly, was slow and had errors. One of us was given a drink we did not order, the menus were not provided until almost 10 minutes after we sat down (though they did get drink orders right away). Twice a server indicated they would refill drinks, but never showed up. After we received the bill, it was almost another 10 minutes before being picked up and this was after the service walked by our table more than once and said they’d be right back. Then one of our party had their card charged for someone else’s bill even though we had been given the correct bills to begin with.
Overall we were disappointed. I wish them the best, and I think the concept is good, but…
