We stopped here for lunch during a road trip and it was very pleasant. The atmosphere was somewhat like a bar, but our son is almost 16, so it wasn’t a big deal.

I had the boneless wings with curly fries, which came with celery and carrots. It was exactly what I was craving. The wings were good- not too soggy, not too dry, the chicken was flavorful, and the breading was just right (not tough).

My husband and son had a burger and there were no complaints.

Our server was fantastic. She checked up on us frequently and even offered to-go drinks when we were about to check out.

If I was in the area, I’d come back to shoot some pool. They have a large bar area, slot machines, and several TVs where they play sports games.

Good vibes and beer. $12 32oz Steins . They have Altstadt German style beer which is a must try. Happy hour 3-6pm. good chips and salsa. Waitress was fast and very nice, pool table $1.00 to play. Must come and see for yourself.

Fair Oaks Roost is a hidden gem that perfectly blends small-town charm with big-league energy—think hometown bar feel with a modern twist. The atmosphere is laid-back but lively, the staff treat you like a regular from day one, and the menu surprises with quality beyond typical bar fare (the smash burger and barrel-aged Old Fashioned are musts). Whether you’re catching the game, winding down with friends, or just craving a solid drink and great company, this spot hits the mark without trying too hard.

Not the One
Was in Boerne and stopped in for lunch with the family after seeing a couple pics online.
Maybe not THE BEST place for the younger ones if that concerns you, but it was lunch time and was ultimately fine. (It does lean more into the Bar side of things rather than the restaurant.)
Had to dock a star for the music…man. Some 90s ish euro disco mix country weirdness and it was LOUD. Like loud for midnight bar shenanigans, let alone lunchtime.
TVs were cool, pretty good mix of content as well, for those that are not drooling sportsball zombies.(Some rodeo, WRC, biking, etc…)
Draft beer selection was pretty decent as well. (NOT the 2 domestic garbage beers and 56 different IPAs that seems to be the standard these days…)
The food was great, we had everything from soup to the wrap, burgers and nuggets. ALL of it was really good.
The service was also really good. Short wait for food and prompt drink service.
I would go back again for sure, glad we stopped in.

Fair oaks Roost – A Neighborhood Gem in Northwest of San Antonio close to Boerne. Fair oak Roost is more than just a great place to grab a bite and a drink — it’s a warm, welcoming spot that truly feels like a neighborhood bar rooted in friendship and community pride. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by how friendly and genuine everyone was. The staff and bartender specially Jason , the patrons — even first-timers are treated like regulars. It’s the kind of place where conversations come easy and people remember your name.
The food and drinks are a real highlight. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty meal, a crisp beer, or a well-crafted cocktail, you won’t be disappointed. Their menu strikes a great balance between comfort and quality, and the bar offerings show real attention to detail.
What makes Fairoak Roost especially unique is its heartfelt tribute to heroes through its memorial memorabilia. The decor honors veterans and first responders in a way that’s both respectful and deeply moving. It adds a meaningful layer to the overall experience and sets it apart from other spots in the area.
Conveniently located just off the I10 in northwest San Antonio, it’s absolutely worth the visit. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Fair oak Rooster offers an experience that’s as satisfying as it is memorable.
Highly recommended — come for the food and drinks, stay for the camaraderie.

Raised in Fair Oaks since 97. The Fair Oaks Roost has been multiple businesses but by far this was my best experience today. Haven’t eaten here in years. I must say the smash burger is super legit and the onion rings are some of the best I’ve ever had. Atmosphere is very updated and nice, food is delicious and wait staff was pleasant. Amy was very nice and attentive. Me and my pops had a great experience. Definitely will come back when visiting the folks. Job well done!

The Roost is pretty good and a great updated from the old Conroys. At times you can get a faint hint of the smoke from the old place. Hard to take out the smell of the old place. TVs are placed is good positions for all to see. Food and service are pretty good but the pours should be better. Pictures are before any drinking.

Second day of being open. The drinks were great, and there were lots of screens so it definitely hits the sports and bar part of its vibe.

Took several minutes for someone to notice our group. Very limited food menu, and did not have pizzas or draft beer, and it was very hot inside like the AC was broken. The deviled egg appetizer was good. The boneless wings did not seem high quality, but were sauced well. Would not do more than one sauce per order, many other places do this. “Twister fries” are tater tots. I would assume curly fries but that’s not what we got. Nothing on the menu specifically for kids.

Overall, the remodel looks great and I think there’s a lot of potential here. We will try again later after they iron out some kinks.

Live trivia at the roost is the hottest night of the week in the boerne/fair oaks area. Awesome host, Michah, brings the good times and laughs while the friendly staff and bartenders keep the cold cold beverages flowing and delicious bites coming. Plus they got great soap in the bathrooms! Very clean facilities. You’d be stupid not to come hang out. Don’t be stupid, stupid.

With the understanding they are new, we (a party of two) decided to give The Roost a shot. Lunch with five other tables occupied upon seating and no more than eight occupied at any given time.

First the good: If you are looking for a bar with plenty of room and TVs then this might suit you. The staff was friendly and the burgers we ordered were of good size and tasted good. The food came out within a decent time from being ordered.

Now the not so good: The menu is very limited (yes this is a bar, but the offerings are more limited than any other bar/pub we’ve been to in the area). The menu now (see pics) is even smaller than when they opened. We were told by an employee this is because they don’t have the storage for a bigger menu. They said a ‘few’ more items might be added in the future. But, if you are coming with the expectation of having more to eat, you might be disappointed. The burgers only come with tater tots (standard tots)…not even fries are available. Service, while friendly, was slow and had errors. One of us was given a drink we did not order, the menus were not provided until almost 10 minutes after we sat down (though they did get drink orders right away). Twice a server indicated they would refill drinks, but never showed up. After we received the bill, it was almost another 10 minutes before being picked up and this was after the service walked by our table more than once and said they’d be right back. Then one of our party had their card charged for someone else’s bill even though we had been given the correct bills to begin with.

Overall we were disappointed. I wish them the best, and I think the concept is good, but…
