They food was amazing, the ladies working there were super helpful and welcoming, and the overall experience was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Did I mention that the food was amazing? The price was also reasonable. I’ll definitely be going back to Sofia’s!!
The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable whether you’re eating in or grabbing takeout. It’s one of those places you end up going back to because you know the food will be good every time.
If you’re in Milcreek or nearby in the Salt Lake Valley and looking for a solid Mexican restaurant, Delicias Sofia is definitely worth checking out. We’ll absolutely be back!!!
TDR was my first experience with street vendors way back in the 90’s and I’m forever grateful (so much great food I’d have missed ). So happy they are still around and just as good
Update April 17, 2024
Finally got my family to come in. My mom and my sobrinos tried the mexican pizza and WOW! SUPER flavorful and cooked just right. I’ve seen a few tables order it in the past and I always regretted not getting it. You can tell by the photo what everyone thought
The service was okay—the girl at the counter was sweet, but she didn’t understand English at all. Even when I tried using a translator, she made it clear she wasn’t going to try to answer my questions. I left feeling like I wasn’t really heard as a customer. They do have an iPad for ordering, which is convenient and I’m sure easier for her.
Overall, the experience was disappointing.
Let’s start with the stars of the show – the tacos. Each bite was a symphony of flavors and textures, a testament to the artistry of Mexican street cuisine. The Asada, tender and perfectly seasoned, melted in my mouth with every savory bite. The pastor, with its succulent marinated pork and charred edges, provided a delightful balance of sweet and savory notes. The chicken, juicy and flavorful, showcased the mastery of grilling techniques. And the Carnitas, with its crispy exterior and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, left me craving for more.
However, no culinary experience is without its flaws, and in this case, it was the Horchata that fell short. While the menu promised a refreshing and creamy beverage, the reality was a watered-down version that lacked the rich cinnamon flavor I had hoped for. It was a minor disappointment amidst an otherwise stellar lineup of offerings.
One of the standout features is its commitment to affordability without compromising on quality. In an era where a decent taco can set you back several dollars, finding a place that still offers street tacos for two dollars is a rarity worth celebrating. This, coupled with the vibrant atmosphere and friendly service, makes a must-visit for any taco enthusiast.
In conclusion, while the Horchata may have missed the mark, the Asada, pastor, chicken, and Carnitas street tacos are a culinary triumph. With their bold flavors, wallet-friendly prices, and welcoming ambiance, it’s no wonder that Tacos Don Rafa has become a beacon of authenticity in a sea of mediocrity. Looking forward to visiting this place again in the future.
Sadly the guacsalsa was not creamy and flavorful.
The meat seemed to be a bit under seasoned. The carnitas were dry. My tacos also had a ton of onion.
The salt was in a bowl for you to pinch which felt unsanitary.
Customer service was also not good. She was kind but was not able to communicate well. I ordered asada, pastor, birria, and carnitas. She communicated, before prepping, that they did not have birria but then did not communicate I would not be getting the al pastor taco. She seemed stressed and hope she is receiving the support she needs to do her job efficiently.
Atmosphere was great. Loved seeing their pictures and the progress they’ve made in their business. Hope things improve!
Update:
Thank you for replying in a respectful way. I didn’t appreciate you reaching out through text and then being disrespectful to me by looking me up and bringing up my religious affiliation. That was very inappropriate and unprofessional.
I speak Spanish and I spoke to her in Spanish. The language barrier was not a bother or an issue. Again I think she’s kind, she just seemed overwhelmed. I’m glad she’s getting paid well too, she deserves it.
As a business, you will get reviews that you might not like or agree with. My review was just a review. Just like any other feedback, you can choose to take it or leave it. You have more 5 star reviews than low rates and many seem to enjoy your restaurant. That is a success in it self and admirable. Wishing you the best.
Please stop reaching out.
