The sauce was fine and the flavor was good. Unfortunately, the flavor was overpowered by a smokiness likely from the fried pork belly. I really like my Thai food to be fresh and the smokiness that vibe.
My main disappointment was in the pork belly. They charged me seven dollars, which is what I pay for some meals. If I’m about to eat a high calorie trunk of fat, I want it to be amazing. I’ve had me melt in your mouth, pork belly. I’ve had crispy light fried pork belly. This was stuck in the middle. It was really chewy. The fat was not flavorful it just tasted like fat. It seems very likely they took some un marinated pork belly and tossed in the wok for too long and it burned, which is what gave me the flavor. The other pet peeve, is that the vegetables were very sloppily chopped. If you’re going to serve me chopped vegetables, make them bite-size pieces.
The decor at this place was fine. I was the only person in the restaurant at 5:45. The service certainly left something to be desired. I will own that one. I think I threw them off because I ordered and they have assumed it was to go, but I ended up eating it in the restaurant. Yes, I did tip as though I was dying in.
Probably 2 1/2 starsfromfor me, but i’ll round up to three.
Glad to see more food options for the southeast side of Bozeman. This restaurant has a fun and lively, yet casual atmosphere. Large touch screen menus make ordering your own food easy. And the wide variety of classic Thai dishes is really great to see. The veggie spring rolls and the Tiger Bombs are amazing, and I highly recommend the Pad See Ew.
Unfortunately, the prices are on the higher end, more of what I would expect to pay at a sit-down restaurant. For an “express” location, I would be happy with smaller portions if it made the dishes more affordable.
This was our first trip, and we were not as enthusiastic not as many of the posted reviews. Totally want you folks to succeed, but assume you want a straight, honest review.
We had one each Pad Thai shrimp and drunken noodle tofu. Both dishes were were really long on noodles but short on the featured ingredients. Noodles were a bit gummy but maybe that is as per design, don’t know and surely don’t claim to be a Thai food aficionado. Both dishes were ordered as medium hot but one dish was really hot, the other was without spice … so that was odd.
To be sure, plenty of food. One dish would be enough for most couples, I suspect.
Best of luck to you guys and welcome to this part of town. We will come back someday and sample other parts of the menu.
I’ve never been to a Thai restaurant where you can order off of a tablet and pick up your order from the counter. Was looking more for a dine in experience and I would say this restaurant is better suited for take-out than dining in although the interior is nicely decorated. That’s probably my fault for not understanding what the Express meant. We weren’t given any napkins while dining in and I didn’t see any around the utensil area but maybe I missed them. It was an okay experience aside from the kind kitchen employee.
10/10, would come here again 🙂
