My wife and I visited Jots for brunch this past weekend. It had been on our list of places to try in San Antonio, and we were pleased to finally experience it. Although the brunch menu was relatively small, it offered a sufficient variety of appealing options.
I ordered the French Dip Sandwich, a dish I typically enjoy trying when it appears on a restaurant’s menu. The sandwich exceeded my expectations. The bread was toasted yet remained soft, the caramelized onions added just the right amount of flavor without being overpowered, and the meat was tender and well-prepared. The au jus complemented the sandwich perfectly, bringing all the flavors together. The fries were also excellent—lightly fried, not greasy, and they maintained their crispness throughout the meal.
My wife ordered the classic breakfast, which included eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sausage. The scrambled eggs were lightly seasoned, the bacon was crispy, and the potatoes were moist and soft. The sausage was served as a link cut into medallions and was particularly flavorful.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and plan to return to try both the breakfast and dinner menus.

Brunch at Jots was really solid. Good spot when you’ve got kids but still want legit food.

I ordered the hash and it was — super flavorful, hearty, and exactly what you want at brunch. Short rib, pork belly, crispy potatoes, and runny eggs.

Kids were happy too, which matters. One got the grilled chicken and cleaned the plate. The burger was a hit

Service was friendly and on point, food came out quick, and the place has a chill vibe without feeling basic. Definitely a spot we’d come back to, especially for a relaxed weekend brunch that works for the whole family.

It was our first time here. He had our reservation, but it wasn’t needed since the place was almost empty—they just recently opened. We were greeted and seated right away. The place looks amazing, with mid-century modern décor and a well-balanced mix of textures and colors, though it felt a little too dark for brunch time.

The brunch menu is very limited, and they do not offer the regular menu on the side. We chose to share the Duck Confit Benedict and a side of potatoes. The duck confit benedict is rich, tender duck paired with perfectly poached eggs and smooth hollandaise on an English muffin. Indulgent, well-balanced, and a standout brunch choice. The potatoes were delicious too.

Service was a little slow, and the ambient music is very low—you can barely hear it. The tables are spaced so far apart that the place feels a bit unfinished. That said, the food makes up for the downsides. This will definitely be a great spot before a play at the theater or during parade days, but it feels like it still needs a few finishing touches. They do not offer complimentary parking, and valet is available for $25.

Overall, I see a lot of potential. Keep up the good work!

My husband and I with two of our friends decided to experience Jots on New Year’s Eve. The hotel ambience was fascinating with a hidden speak easy inside, old relics and makes for a great aesthetic photo op.

For starters we have the delicious Devil’s River Braised Pork Belly. Don’t be fooled! This was jam packed with flavor! The complimentary Bread service was perfectly soft and warm with a whipped youngblood honey butter that left you wanting more.

My husband had the Bordeaux Braised Short Ribs that was accompanied by parsnip puree, roasted carrots and bordelaise. He also ordered a side of Truffle Pommes Frites that was topped with freshly shaved parmigiana reggiano.

I had the Apple & Sage Texas Hen with the smashed yukon gold potatoes, washington apple compote and poultry jus. I really enjoyed how juicy the hen was but would’ve appreciated a bit more flavor. The mashed potatoes were spot on and the apple compote added a wonderful element of surprise for my taste buds.

My friends had the Pan Seared Alaskan Salmon with caviar velouté, herb crust and shaved garlic brussels. My friend was generous enough to allow me to taste it and this was by far the most wanted meal that made me say “We have to come back again.” The flavors were exceptional! It’s MUST HAVE!

The last dish was the Jot’s Burger with brazos valley gouda, pecan smoked bacon, garlic aioli, onion confit, brioche bun and pommes frites. He said it was the best burger he’s ever had.

For dessert we shared the 1920s Chocolate Torte that consisted of classic milk chocolate torte, white chocolate mousse, shaved dark chocolate and a milk chocolate ganache. It was extremely decadent, if you love chocolate this one is for you!

Hotel restaurant. Big space and sadly very quiet, so it really lacks atmosphere (Friday night!). Menu is great, service was good and the food was delicious. The pork Schnitzel was way too thick to be called Schnitzel – almost an inch thick. While it was good, it needs to be pounded thinner to be traditional (pork) Schnitzel. Wine list is extensive. The duck confit was good. All in all, not really worth the price but I do want it to succeed! Looks like they will try to appeal to the pre-theater crowd going forward. If you don’t feel like leaving the hotel then I recommend it.

Visited Jots for Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend. The valentine’s menu looked great for a couple of 2. Although it had a lot of different flavors and plates the steak was low quality meat and not as juicy as I expected for a place like this. The lobster was overcooked and not very tender. I also realized once we left that they did not give us our smashed potatoes with our entree which is unfortunate since it was a pricey menu meal. Overall the service was great though but I did wish the quality of the entree was better and that they did not forget items they were supposed to give us.

This place is in the hotel and is very nice. The staff were accommodating, helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They have a nice selection of appetizers, salads, main course, and my favorite dessert. I was pleasantly impressed and surprised how wonderful all the food was. The chef even came out and introduced herself to ask how the food was. This was an easy 5 star review and is highly recommended!

Wonderful meal at Jots and an after dinner drink at the Keystone Club inside the beautifully remodeled Gunter Hotel! Juan provided outstanding service at Jots during dinner. The salmon entree is fantastic. Props to the waitstaff and chefs. Be sure and checkout the bar in the lobby as well, excellent cocktails provided by Christine, Angel and Jayden!

Absolutely incredible spot that I could not recommend more! For drinks, the Ingrid and Do Not Disturb are both yummy. The quail poppers and beet salad are both really good, too. For an entree, we loved the salmon; it was cooked to perfection and amazing with the brussel sprouts. Definitely will eat here again and the hotel is super nice!! A+++

10/10 dining experience. The Pork Schnitzel and Jots Burger (especially the fries) were delicious and the kitchen was more than willing to consider allergies and customizations. Our waiter Michael was exceptional and went above and beyond to make our dinner special. Can’t wait to return!
