I was dining with my niece, and the care they showed her was incredible—bringing crayons and toys, making her feel welcomed, and checking on us constantly to be sure we were comfortable and happy. It wasn’t just good service, it was genuinely thoughtful.
Our waiter, Bryce, and the manager were both unbelievably warm, welcoming, and kind. They went far beyond what’s expected of their jobs and made us feel like valued guests rather than just customers. Their attention, professionalism, and kindness truly stood out.
This experience is exactly why I have continued to come to The Capital Grille and why I will keep coming back. Exceptional food paired with exceptional people makes all the difference, and today they absolutely nailed it.
Highly recommend—this is hospitality at its finest.
Our server Armand, was nothing short of exceptional. His service was attentive without being intrusive, and his suggestions truly elevated the meal. It was evident that his priority was to ensure we had an unforgettable dining experience checking in regularly, fine-tuning every detail, and going above and beyond to make us feel valued.
We started the evening with a few appetizers: the jumbo shrimp cocktail, calamari, and tuna tartare. The shrimp were fresh and flavorful, a classic done right. The tuna tartare, however, was the clear standout outright delicious. It had just the right balance of avocado and cucumber, paired with a generous portion of tuna, creating a light and refreshing start. The calamari? Well, calamari is calamari and it’s hard to get wrong. This one was done decently well and was a solid addition to the table, especially for those wanting something crisp to munch on before the mains.
Followed that up with a variety of steak dishes each cooked to perfection but for one where we did encounter a small hiccup, but the way Armand and the team handled it was nothing short of graceful. Quick, sincere, and solution-oriented, their response turned a potential setback into a testament to their commitment to excellence. That’s the mark of true hospitality.
I went with the sea bass, specially requested without butter. It was initially brought out with butter, but Armand was sharp enough to catch the oversight before I even said a word. In under a minute, he had a new, correct dish on the table. That level of precision and awareness felt downright Michelin-esque.
The sides were fantastic as well where the Brussels sprouts, asparagus and the bread basket were all crowd-pleasers. Special mention to the onion bread, which quickly became the table favorite.
When “Desserts anybody” rolled around, it was a hushed “yes” that turned into a why not from the entire table. We ordered nearly everything on the menu along with a vanilla ice-cream (except the seasonal berries), and were surprised and delighted with an off-menu chocolate cake served fresh from the oven, on the house. That final sweet touch sealed the evening with smiles all around though the cake vanished so quickly, some were left only with the hope of a second helping!
All in all, The Capital Grille delivers a gastronomic experience marked by warmth, attention to detail, and culinary finesse. Whether you’re there for a celebration or just an indulgent night out, it’s a place you won’t want to miss.
They have a valet, but it is just across the street from city Creek and that is where I’ve parked when I’ve gone.
I love a good steak and theirs did not disappoint, the au gratin potatoes and mashed potatoes are both great. The calamari appetizer was one that surprised me with how tasty it was. The coconut pie for dessert seems to be everyone’s favorite and was very good.
The service is impeccable, as is the food and ambience. Overall, one of my favorite restaurants downtown. Highly recommend!
The wait staff were nothing short of wonderful. From the moment I was seated, they were attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely warm in their hospitality. They anticipated needs before I even asked, kept drinks topped off, and ensured every detail of the meal went smoothly. It’s rare to find such a balance of professionalism and friendliness, and it really elevated the evening.
Of course, no great meal is complete without dessert, and Capitol Grille delivered on that as well. The dessert I tried was decadent and delicious, the perfect sweet finish to an already outstanding dinner. Combined with the welcoming atmosphere—sophisticated yet comfortable, with a touch of elegance that makes you want to linger—it’s easy to see why Capitol Grille stands out as one of the best dining spots in Salt Lake City. Without hesitation, I give them a full five stars and will absolutely be returning.
Our server Hamlet Z tonight was wonderful and very attentive. We will request him next time for sure!
