What a phenomenal small store treasure this place is. Super friendly staff, nostalgic atmosphere decorated with old time stuff. We just got a milkshake and ice cream and it was great. We did see them make banana splits which looked great and saw people ordering real food which also looked great.

Great place with a fantastic vintage interior that instantly takes you back to the classic American diner atmosphere. The food is really delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. I highly recommend the Reuben sandwich — it’s juicy, perfectly balanced, and definitely a must-try. Payne’s is absolutely worth a visit if you’re in Scottsboro!

Really good classic style diner! Journey took care of our group and I just let her pick my food, it did not disappoint!! She brought me a Grilled Chicken Melt and later Pirate Treasure Ice Cream! It had Caramel with chunks of Sugar Coated Oreo, so eating it was literally like digging thru Beach Sand to find little Orange and Green Pirate Treasure! My wife got a Slaw Dog and their excellent Pasta Salad! Had a great experience and they get busy at peak lunch hours so get there early or late. Thank you Journey for making the visit awesome, excellent service!

Lovely place. Service was friendly and helpful. Food came out quick and was very good. Very reasonably priced as well.
The reuben bread was buttery, crisp on the outside and soft of the inside, the meat was hot, and the cheese was melty. This was the best reuben I’ve had. That bread really made the sandwich. Asked where the bread came from, sadly, the server didn’t know.
Had to have a scoop of the butter pecan to finish off the meal, came in a cute ice cream glass, tasty, and then got a brownie to go.
They also had bacon butter to go, that was nice.
Definitely recommend stopping in here if you’re near by.
Pro tip: have ice cream as dessert on Thursdays for a nickel if you’re over 65

This was our first time to eat here. It was a really cool place. We’d driven over from Huntsville for a day trip to do some shopping at a couple of places. The food was delicious. The service was great. I wish I remembered our server’s name she was fantastic, such a sweet young lady. My husband and I both had the BLT, of course we had dessert. He ordered the chocolate sundae and I had the caramel and pecan sundae.

The decor is fun, every song on the radio is a total classic banger, the people are friendly, the service is awesome, and the food is fantastic.
