What made the experience even better was the service. The owner personally came to our table to chat with us, and he was such a kind and welcoming gentleman. The entire staff was also very friendly and attentive.
I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic, fresh food and a warm atmosphere. I’m from Montreal, and the next time I’m in San Diego, I will definitely come back for another great dinner.
Food/drink review:
Zucca di fiori: (5/5) These zucchini blossoms were so delicious! Great flavor, texture, and the sauce was perfection! We ended up ordered multiple for the table.
Caesar salad: (3.5/5) The perfect sharing portion, but wish there was more dressing on the salad.
Suppli: (5/5) These were some of the best rice balls I’ve ever had. They had the perfect crunch and the flavor. We ordered 2 of these as well.
Oxtail meatballs: (4/5) Super tender and flavorful!
Pappardelle Bolognese: (4/5) This dish was okay. Something was missing but can’t put my finger on it. Overall, it was pretty tasty!
Lasagna: (3.5/5) This wasn’t my favorite. It’s a nice portion, but I felt it was lacking in flavor.
Pines porchetta (4/5): Yummy flat bread! Super light and great for the table to share. The smoked mozzarella was a great touch.
Ravioli al portobello: (4/5) This was the best pasta sauce on our table! Their white sauces are delicious!!!
Tiramisu: Presentation is definitely 5/5, it was pretty tasty. It has a strong coffee flavor, which I don’t prefer but everyone devoured it!
If you’re looking for a delicious meal in a gorgeous setting, I highly recommend coming here. Everything is made with high-quality Italian flour, and you can really taste the difference.
Ciao! ✨
First off, it’s a nice interior and general set up, though I should note that sitting g next to the large folding glass doors will set you up for a bit of a chill. Thoughtful decorations and style back a nice, calm atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming and eager to help you out. It truly feels like a Roman welcome.
We kicked things off with charcuterie and burrata. The charcuterie was the low-point of the meal for me—while the toasted bread, arugula, and meats were all pretty good, the cheese selection just wasn’t my favorite. They were all a bit understated and I wasn’t the biggest fan. The burrata, however, was legitimately some of the best I’ve ever had. The pesto and tomatoes that accompanied that creamy burrata were top-notch flavor bombs.
The pasta dishes were absolutely delicious and unforgettable. These pasta tasted house-made from scratch. If they aren’t, they’re using some extremely high-quality stuff. The lasagna was mind-boggling good, with deep flavor and a perfect cook on every layer. The paparadelle bolognese was also delicious. The noodles al dente and that bolognese was perfectly rendered plated.
Loved almost everything about this experience. Can’t wait for a second episode at Romanesque Cucina Romana, and happy that such a high-tier restaurant has popped up in little old Clairemont.
We came here for Happy Hour on a weeknight. They have a great Happy Hour menu from 3-5pm. We ordered the Cesar salad, zucchini blossom appetizer, and their penne alla norma.
We thought the zucchini blossoms were ok. Not very flavorful and too deep fried for our taste. Expected a nice and light appetizer but got something deep fried and heavy instead.
The Cesar salad was good and so was the penne alla norma. We were given complimentary fresh bread with a delicious cacio e pepe sauce too.
We will definitely return to try more items off their menu!
*Came for a second time and I just want to say, please, I beg you- skip the terrible parking of Little Italy and come here! Diego, you have made this dining experience *magical* my son and I love you!
