Yesterday, my friend and I went with a few others to try this all-you-can-eat sushi spot. We got there around 6 p.m. and were told there would be about an hour wait, but we ended up getting seated after about 40 minutes. Once seated, we ordered drinks and started putting in our sushi orders. Luckily, we had already looked at the menu beforehand, so we had a good idea of what we wanted.

The first thing I tried was the jalapeño yellowtail, which was decent. We all shared different rolls so everyone could taste a little of everything — some I liked, some I didn’t, but that’s part of the fun of trying new things. My absolute favorite was the Las Vegas Roll — creamy, flavorful, and definitely something I’d come back for. We also ordered crab rangoon (really good!) and shrimp fried rice, which was okay but could’ve used a bit more flavor.

One of my friends ordered the octopus sushi, and the rice on that one didn’t seem to be put together properly — it fell apart as soon as she picked it up with her chopsticks. That’s one item I think the restaurant could improve on in terms of preparation.

I’d also love to see them expand their drink menu. Another sushi place I’ve been to offers Thai tea, which I really enjoy, and it would be great if they added more unique drink options beyond the standard fountain drinks and a few specialty ones.

Overall, it was a nice experience, especially since I’m still fairly new to eating sushi. I’d go back again — maybe not right away, but definitely sometime in the future. If you’re planning to visit, just remember: it’s all-you-can-eat, but be mindful of what you order because they do charge a small fee for unfinished items.

New sushi and hibachi restaurant, all you can eat. Service was great. Price was very reasonable.Seated promptly. The dishes all came out quickly and were fresh and very tasty. The cucumber salad was refreshing but I’d probably skip it next time and just have another sushi roll. The shrimp Shumai was hot and excellent and the Mermaid Roll was delicious too.

We loved our meal here! The sushi was fresh and flavorful. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The price of the all you can eat sushi was reasonable.

We didn’t have to wait long for a table and the restaurant was very busy.

We tried Akina for the first time on a Monday night, were seated immediately and service was prompt, friendly, and excellent. We tried seaweed salad (delicious), kani salad (also good), avocado salad (yum), shrimp shumai (my favorite item!!), pork gyoza, several sushi appetizers (salmon bites melt in your mouth- wow), seven of the sushi types, beef yakisoba noodles, hibachi shrimp (LOVED!!), shrimp tempura and probably a few things I am forgetting. Everything was extremely fresh, quality was top notch. Hot food was piping hot, and cold food was cold. The hibachi items are especially calling me to come back and try more. Everything was not only delicious, but beautifully presented. Sauces were flavorful and accentuated the food nicely. Service was excellent throughout. Our used dishes were taken away regularly and our server checked in with us often for our next orders. We tried Japanese soft drinks (Ramune) in melon and strawberry – these taste utterly magical and come in a neat bottle sealed with a marble.
The system of frequent small orders ensures you can try many items, get more of what you love, and not waste food. There’s such a great variety of items to try, and the all-you-can-eat price is a bargain for the quality and variety. The service keeps the good times rolling.
The place was hopping as soon as it opened on a Monday night, and there were plenty of pleasant, efficient servers to take care of the crowd.
This is a not-to-be-missed dining experience and I suspect that word of mouth will keep them busy every day of the week. I definitely recommend Akina and I will certainly be back.
I’m trying to think of what was NOT great, and the only thing I can come up with is the parking lot is not ideal. Small, oddly configured, but it’s safe, free parking so it’s difficult to even complain about that.

Thank goodness I only had to wait a week to try this new place out! Akina Sushi & Hibachi is everything I read about and more! For 3 of us, it was less than $50 before tip. Food total: 4 appetizers, 1 salad, 8 sushi rolls. Every single bite was delicious; taste is certainly not overlooked, with a focus on extremely fresh ingredients. Being greeted by the owner and his amazing staff just added to the experience. Come to Akina and make your belly (and wallet) happy.
Only regret: we devoured the food before I could take pictures of everything.

So glad we decided to stop in, everything was fantastic! Even though the place was pretty busy, our food and drinks came out in great time, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious and flavorful. This spot has definitely earned a place in our regular Syracuse dining rotation. Between the quality, variety, and overall experience, it is well worth the cost!

You have to get down here before your can’t get near this place. I love Sushi anyway but this is next level! The flavor profile is fresh, bold and well balanced. It took a minute to get used to the concept of all you can eat without leaving your table but it is real! Start with soup, salad, appetizers (as many as you want) and before we were done with that course they were asking us what we wanted to order so there was no lag time or hoping you give up ordering. We did a bunch of single plates and shared amount the two of us to try a bunch of different profiles and we were not discouraged to eat off eachothers places. Its my new favorite place for sure! ❤️ @-B–
