Cozy little place for intimate Valentine’s dinner. The food was good. Loved the lemon tart for dessert. The wine was ok. As others noted, it is definitely overpriced for the portions provided. The portions especially the salad were smaller than expected.

I don’t know why anybody would give this place a bad review. The atmosphere is so cozy and reminded me of Europe, the food so fresh and perfectly portioned, and the service so welcoming. We found this by chance on a snow February evening and will be back! Online, however, it says this restaurant closed in 2024, but it is open and thriving! The owner was charming, and I hope he gets his retirement soon (just after we return on more time!)

So cute, so delicious! There are many hot places in the meat packing district, but just off the beaten path, on Hudson street is this gem of French cuisine! Everything was amazing and it was much quieter and cozy that many restaurants in the area. Trés magnifique!

We ordered the Steak Au Poivre, which was, cooked to the right temperature and I actually loved how much pepper was in the sauce.
As for the bread, it was warm, and the butter was pretty good. The baguette was good.

Now, I have to talk about the escargot. It was AMAZING. They came already de-shelled and the flavors were just garlicky enough. I dare say this is a must-order item.

We didn’t have room for dessert, oh and I really liked their martini’s (kudos to the bartender).

All in all, this was a great meal, get there early for the burger and must order the escargot.

Delicious but small portions. I’d happily go back as everything was great, but even having 3 courses I ate another mini dinner after dining here. People on weight loss drugs should have no problem here.

Food is amazing, this was my second time here. But, I’d say that it’s an expensive restaurant.
We got the broccoli mousse (I loved it) and asparagus from the special menu, the pasta dish and chicken for main and cream brûlée for dessert.

We paid $250 for 2 apps, 2 mains, 1 dessert and 3 glasses of wine and the portion size is sufficient for the number of courses but individually small.
Food is ofcouse amazing and service is good, but I don’t know why the owner kept on talking in French to us when we didn’t understand what he said. Seemed a little aggressive too and tried to upsell dishes. But if you are going, take your time and enjoy the authenticity of the place.

All the servers were so sweet 10/10

As a food lover, I always enjoy trying new restaurants, but I usually write reviews when I feel that I have something to say.

At La Ripaille, I was happily surprised by the taste of a unique dish named “broccoli mousse.” It turned out to be the creation of the restaurant’s owner 43 years ago! What an achievement!

For my main dish, I ordered the shrimp with saffron sauce. Besides its elegant presentation, the dish was so delicious! I used to order a similar dish years ago, but never found it again until I dined at La Ripaille!

The servers were very attentive and hospitable, and the owner was so charismatic, ending almost all his sentences with “s’il vous plait.” My husband and I left the restaurant fulfilled by the food and the whole experience.

Yes, my followers know we eat at @laripaillenyc every Tuesday or Wednesday weekly, outdoor, since October 2020. They only closed for the months with no indoor dining. The owners are like families; staffs are super friendly and professional. The food is just yummy; anything on the menu, appetizers to desserts. Wine choices are great too. We meet WV neighbors and become pandemic dinner buddies. This place is such a neighborhood gem .

Had 8:45 reservations. Feels like a reasonable hour for dinner in NYC (Google says they close at 11….) Restaurant itself was cute enough, wine was alright. The servers were both very nice, if not a little rushed. We spent $55 on a steak that left me very hungry. The mussels we ordered were half empty. Not sure if maybe we were just getting whatever was left over in the kitchen because it was “late,” or if they just think all 8 bites make up for how little there is to eat. Hopefully was just an off night for the kitchen.

Love to dine at this French bistro. I went to this restaurant twice already in a short period of time. The place is cozy, the food is good and the service is attentive. I highly recommend to order the daily specials he suggest because they are cooked just right. The owner himself serves the tables and funny, you can’t resist his thank you kisses. Every customer is so so welcome from him.
