Let’s just start at the most important part – DESSERT!!!!! Wow wow wow, that Napoleon was so scrumptious, delicious and incredible. It’s worth dining here just for the dessert, but if you’re like me the dessert is just the icing on the cake. The food here is incredible, I’m blown away by their large selection of specials, which would make you wonder why even bother with a printed menu, but if you’re like my wife on the quest of finding the best burger in the whole area, well hop over to the menu and order yourself one because it’s phenomenal. And that french onion soup is out of this world, not to mention the warm french baguette they bring to your table.
Lesson to learn: COME HUNGRY!!!! For me it was the first and last meal of my day, and boy was it amazing.
The restaurant itself is so charming, you literally feel like you stepped into a little cafe in Europe. And the staff who was a husband and wife team were so sweet and cordial, even though they were certainly overwhelmed with a very full house. If you are a wine drinker, there is a great selection of wines to choose from. I prefer to spend my calories on the solid foods .
Cafe La Gauoe is amazing, so happy to see life back to normal, people outside and visiting local establishments, and seeing people’s smiling faces. If you are in a rush, don’t come here, but if you want an incredible fun dining experience this is the place to come!

We absolutely loved this place! A big group of us ran the Ache Around the Lake race around Lake Lanier early Saturday morning and after we all meet for breakfast here. They accommodated our big group amazingly. The women waiting on us were very kind and attentive to our needs. The food and drinks were delicious and just what we needed after our race. We were also lucky enough to have the perfect view of the bike race going through town. We loved this place and will plan to come back again when we’re in the area!

This place is amazing. The atmosphere is spot on. It makes me feel like I was in France at a local restaurant. The staff was very friendly. I have a service dog, and the manager was telling me that they are dog friendly and love dogs. The wine selection is pretty good. The list was not overbearingly long. It made picking the perfect bottle of wine easy. The food was delicious. I had a light pasta dish, and she had the fish. We split a chocolate mousse dessert that hit the spot and wrapped up a wonderful evening at an awesome French style restaurant. Will highly recommend. And will definitely be back.

First time there and the server was so helpful. The coffee is good and the food is phenomenal. Everything looks so delicious. I wanted a sample of EVERYTHING. It has a nice atmosphere. There wasn’t a wait. I sat at a small table for two, but bar seating is available. I will most definitely be back.

Spectacular meal:
I had the Eggs Benedict with country ham. Here’s what set it apart: The hollandaise sauce was light and not overbearing. I was a bit Leary of how tough the ham would be to cut through and eat (around here, “country ham” is cured to toughness and can be chewy). My fork went right through the tender, salty ham. It continues to cut down through the croissant down to the plate. With poached egg, sauce, ham and croissant all together on my fork, I bit into an exquisite treat. Wow!
Potatoes were seasoned with rosemary and cooked to perfection. Very tasty.
Fresh fruit mix was berries and banana slices – and very fresh.
My wife had bacon and eggs with potatoes. All cooked exactly to order, and delicious.
Coming back for dessert pastries – they look like art!
Overall, this place is a great place to have a meal – morning or night. Highly recommend!
Friendly service, clean. Not knowing French, I asked the proper pronunciation of the name – it’s pronounced “La Gool”, FYI.

Owners are AMAZING! They found me the perfect wine to go with my meal. I’m more of a sweet wine and they found a perfect bubbly Muscato.
Had a wonderful lamb shank special that was by far the best I have ever had and I lived in Boston plus had Irish make me lamb.
10/10 will go again!

A hidden gem! This cafe is worth going to at least once if you get the chance. Amazing food and a very friendly staff in a classic French cafe environment. The food is authentic and well worth every penny. Make sure to try a pastry or two while you are there. Highly recommended!

Reviews don’t note that this place is an absolute dump. They need to take a wrecking ball to it. There is insulation hanging from the ceiling in the halls. SHOWER CURTAINS make up the bathroom. And it gets better – it’s an old store front and they literally try seating people in the display window separated from the rest of the restaurant! Which has no air and it’s the weirdest thing ever. The food was good but the dining experience was really bad, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. A local told us it was good… visitors beware! When you charge $50 for a steak and don’t invest money in the dining experience; no thank you.

Very nice young lady helped us with out to go desserts. Chocolate pyramid thingy was wonderful. The cannoli was the best I’ve ever had. Carrot cake was mouth watering, too.
We will be back for sure
