Social Profile:

Welcome to the India Oak Grill, a Clintonville cornerstone for friends, food and fun for over 40 years. The original Oak was named “Hollies” and located on Indianola where the Huntington Bank now sits. The current location was previously an automated car wash and the original pay window still exists by the front door and looks into the kitchen. There is a special neighborhood feeling at the Oak and chances are someone knows your name. And of course the Oak is famous for our Italian Sub, the “Best Sub in Clintonville” (we think in all of Columbus!). Stop in and sit on our patio or join us for live music every weekend featuring local performers. If you’re looking for great friends and great food and fun, “The Oak” is your spot.

Long-running eatery featuring American grub, a weekday happy hour, live-music nights & patio dining.

Great food! Had friendly service and delicious sandwiches. The beer on tap could have been a little colder, but not bad. Overall a great place to just get out and have dinner and drinks.

DO NOT COME HERE! If I could give negative stars, I definitely would. My wife went in to pick up our food after 25 minutes – when they said it’d be ready. She gets there and waits over 30+ minutes for our food. The patrons were drunk and rude, with one man calling my wife a “fruit cake” and went on to brag about how he only likes girls (GIRLS) about 16 years old. Disgusting behavior that’s encouraged and tolerated by this establishment. Basically a “good ole boys” club. After my wife STOOD UP FOR HERSELF, she was told to leave. Nothing was said to the man that instigated in the first place. Food is mediocre, and the people inside are even worse. Save your money and go somewhere better.

I love this bar. It’s a hidden dive bar gem that used to be a car wash! It’s for a nice front porch area with some cool lights and plenty of seats. They have a lot on draft, domestics in bottles/cans, and some nice top shelf bourbon like Weller Antique. Sometimes bands play there but otherwise, a relatively quiet place. My kind of bar. There’s also a church that you could park at nearby.

We embarked on a Tuesday adventure because I prefer to avoid crowded places because I am immunodeficient. I had known about India Oak for a long time, so it felt like the perfect opportunity to explore more neighborhood spots. I love dive and neighborhood eateries, and this one was just right.

We enjoyed a fantastic Italian sub sandwich and a meatball sub with just the right amount of tomato sauce. One of the highlights was the freshly baked Italian bread they take pride in using. The in-house-made chili was also excellent, served in a savory, meaty tomato sauce rich with just the right amount of large red kidney beans. You can also add onion and cheese on top if you like.

The kitchen at India Oak is small, accommodating only one or two people at a time. However, this limitation doesn’t stop them from serving fresh, made-to-order dishes such as burgers, grilled cheese, and soups. Since there is no deep fryer, nothing on the menu is fried, and no French fries are available.

Great little dive bar in Clintonville. Tried the local favorite Italian sub, chili and meatballs sub and was not disappointed! $$ is very good and the staff and service were great ( thanks Jess)!

Great dive bar, very welcoming and warm. Covered patio with a heated section! One of the gals made me an amazing margarita for only $3.50! Nice, clean bathroom. Simple, good food too.

I’d say overall one of the best dive bars I’ve been to!

The food was surprisingly really good for how incredibly cheap it is. Nice atmosphere. The only downside is parking can get limited if it’s busy

Neighborhood bar parking is limited till after 7. Employees are very welcoming. Food is fast and good. Smoking area has very limited heat, with wind block. The band was good not a bad seat in the house.

Delicious fresh Italian sub with very fresh ingredients and the bread is to die for. It’s Sunday evenings and the band is playing the blues amazingly! The singer has a fantastic seasone blues sound. Wish we lived closer!!! We will make the trip back. Having great time!
