9/11/2025: After my recent 4 night 5 day stay in the L’Auberge casino, I made an observation. No casino restaurants, unless high end, are that great. They know you will have to eat and probably don’t want to leave the property, so there’s no real incentive for them to be on their A game. Johnny Sanchez is no exception. We ate there twice during our stay. Why? Because it was convenient. Although the waitresses both times were nice, the service was snail slow. The tea tasted off because I think their water is not filtered. The food is bland. The options are good for breakfast, lunch, and sharables, but the food itself was subpar. I wouldn’t have complained a bit if the speed of the service was at least quick. Not a fan of waiting in a super freezing cold restaurant.

My first there and I’d definitely be back!
I ordered the top shelf frozen margarita and the shrimp nachos. Every thing was great, I didn’t have a long wait and Raine was very nice! The only complaint I have is that it was entirely too cold in there!

We visited this restaurant soon after it opened and were happy with our meals, it was very nice to see cauliflower tacos on the menu which were very tasty and a great vegan/vegetarian option. The portions aren’t that big (the tacos are the smaller street taco size) so you may want to order some extras or sides if you’re with a group or really hungry. The brussel sprouts were great, they didn’t have the plantains when we went so they just gave us chips which were ok. Our server was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The prices were a bit high – also cost a little more because most items are single on the menu so you have to order sides, chips etc separately but the prices are to be expected in a casino or specialty restaurant. Overall a good experience and food!

Went here cause nothing else was open yet and I was craving a fajita plate. The staff was super nice and welcoming and there was no wait considering it was 3pm on a Wednesday. The food was alright the cheese on the nachos was amazing however I should’ve asked for more queso and pico. My fajita plate was a little disappointing because it was just a small steak on top of sizzling onions and a jalapeno. It wasn’t seasoned or anything like an actual fajita plate so it let me down but the Mexican rice was really good so it was able to cover the straight meaty flavor from the fajita. My mom got the crawfish enchilada and was blown away by it and 100% recommends it. To end it all off we had gotten the tres leches for desert and it was so dang good that we almost ate it all despite being full.

My husband and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, LA. We dined at Johnny Sánchez yesterday evening when we arrived and for breakfast this morning. The street tacos (tender sliced pork topped with a verde sauce, pickled onion, and pork skins) for Taco Tuesday were excellent. They were served with a side of well seasoned beans and rice. I took advantage of the seasonal $4 margarita flavored with coconut cream and pineapple. My husband ordered the carne asada with a margarita. For breakfast I ate the French toast topped with powdered sugar and strawberries with a side of bacon. My husband ordered a classic plate of eggs and opted for sausage, crisp potatoes, and a biscuit. Our servers were excellent both visits, specifically, Danielle C. She was prompt taking our orders and ensured we had an excellent dining experience. She was very friendly and practiced great customer service skills. The establishment itself was very clean, and I loved the environment. I would definitely dine there again and recommend Johnny Sánchez to others.

Closer to home than the NOLA location so I decided to surprise my husband with JS. I loved the NOLA location “industrial type” atmosphere, but preferred this location’s openness and central bar location. Service by Geneva (like the convention) was great. The drink I ordered was mixed very, very strong. Was better after my husband finished the first and I asked for a second, much less strong one. And the food, as expected, was fantastic. We started with the Pork Ribs Al Pastor then continued with the Ribeye for Mark and Braised Short Rib Tacos for me. We then ordered all of the desserts, so we could try each one (minus the tres leche). Pictured below are the Churros, Sopapillas, Mexican Wedding Cookies and the Key Lime Cake (it is listed on their new dessert menu-I don’t recall the exact name). As we told the on-duty manager, food was better in this location than the NOLA location, better seasoning. We will definitely be back!
*I would like to note that I would give all of the above 5 stars if the buttons worked.*

First time dining here. I ordered a chicken quesadilla. Something so simple. It was the worst quesadilla I’ve ever encountered!
It had a layer of burnt cheese on top that I had to pull off to even attempt to eat it. It was really gross. The only reason I didn’t send it back is because I got an urgent phone call and had to leave.
Im not sure what they serve that is good but the quesadilla is GROSS . wasted 20 bucks!

Kind of a disappointing experience. We arrived and the Hostess told us it was a 30 minute wait. We want to the bar to get some drinks prior to getting seated. We sat there for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us and there were maybe 4 people in the bar today. The bartender looked at us like 3 times and never moved towards us. Finally she came over begrudgingly and took our drink order. Very disappointing. After waiting 45 minutes we still had not been called. There were like 6 tables open so it did not make sense. We finally got seated. The trio of Salsa , Guac and Chips were great. The Verde Enchiladas were dry and the Chicken Quesadilla was soggy and full of cheese and onions and poblano peppers. Again disappointing.

So glad we got to finally try this place! Last time they weren’t open yet. The atmosphere was GREAT! The Bloody Mary’s are absolutely amazing. Both days I had the classic Eggs Benedict, replaced the potatoes with grits… WOW! Some of the best Benedict I’ve ever had. My husband had the breakfast tacos and the potatoes one morning, they were delicious! The next day he had the Benedict made with chorizo and avocado. Everything was beyond delicious! And if Danielle is working, ask for her! She’s so sweet, attentive and just a lot of fun. We will definitely be requesting her everytime from now on. Don’t think, just eat here!….. TRISH! What can I say about Trish??? She’s absolutely so much fun. Makes the BEST drinks and you’re guaranteed to have an amazing experience. Again, TRISH & DANIELLE!

Great place to grab a quick lunch. They had a straight forward breakfast and lunch menu. The waitress told us that the dinner menu was a bit different. We had lunch, it was pretty good (see pics below). The bar looks to be a nice and relaxing place to sit and have a few drinks. Marquetta was our waitress she was great.
