Reviews
First, our server was lovely! All of the hosts and servers are so kind and empathetic. I didn’t want to ask too much of our wonderful waitress, so I didn’t speak up much at the restaurant, which is why I decided to write a review instead.
The drinks were good, the bread is always warm and lovely.
Okay, now as far as the issues…
There was a hair in my salad. I have long, straight brown hair, and I noticed towards the end of my salad that there was a short, curly hair. I have worked in food service before and I know that this happens from time to time, so I took it out and stopped eating, but I didn’t want to complain. I did, however, feel a bit queasy when I saw that.
Now I ordered the fillet medium rare and my fiancé ordered the sirloin. The potatoes were great. However, we seemingly were served the exact same steak. My steak had a good amount of gristle on it, and I knew as I cut into it that it could not be a fillet- it was tough and fatty, even at medium rare. So I told our waitress that I thought I was mistakenly served a sirloin. She was very nice and graciously took it back to alert the staff. She came back about 5 minutes later and told me that she had alerted the cooks, but that she couldn’t find a manager anywhere. I also did not see a manager, as far as I know, the entire visit. I’m not a “speak to the manager” kind of guy, but I am worried about the staff not having support when they need it (this was 5pm, leading right into dinner). I told her it was no problem, and eventually a different server came over and served me… well, the same steak. I didn’t want to be a pain, so I ate it anyway, but it was definitely the same steak, fat and all, and, again, I don’t think it was a fillet. Unless they were serving some unusually tough fillets, I don’t think I was served the right steak. I’ve had a fillet here before, and when I had it before it cut like butter and tasted divine. This was tough, and they didn’t season it at all. Normally I’m blown away by the seasoning here, but I had to put salt and pepper on it because it wasn’t seasoned. I was just kind of confused. I still paid nearly $30 for a fillet, and I got served a tough piece of meat twice. Again, no fault of the lovely servers, I just didn’t see any leadership around at the time, and by the end I didn’t want to take up time or cause drama by complaining. I just hope I can get a proper fillet and a hairless salad next time, please! ❤️
Shoutout to Jaxsen at LongHorn for going above and beyond during an extra busy lunch today. Even while short-staffed, he was everywhere — hosting, busing, bringing drinks and bread, and helping every table with a great attitude. He really kept things running smoothly and made sure guests were taken care of.
And Cindy took great care of us at the bar once the rush cleared. And she makes a MEAN MARGARITA!!
I gave LongHorn a few weeks after opening, hoping they’d work out the kinks. Turns out, some of those kinks are still mooing in the back.
Our server was either brand new or just really committed to an avant-garde dining experience. The salads made a dramatic entrance seconds before the steaks, like they’d been held up in traffic. Our drinks took long enough that I considered sending a search party. And as for the dirty dishes? They became our dinner guests—sticking around for the entire meal like they were paying rent.
The steak was delicious, but I think I’ll give them another couple of months to get the service fully cooked before I come back
For all the hype, decore and the “steakhouse” figured they would know how to cook a steak. The other food was good and the waitress nice
