Chef James is an award winning Chef. He started his culinary career as a dish washer at Highlands Bar and Grill. He worked his way to the Sous Chef of Highlands and eventually the Sous Chef of Bottegas as well. 2 of the finest restaurants in Alabama. Under the leadership of his mentor Frank Stitt, Chef James has cooked for the James Beard Awards in NYC as well as the Inn at Little Washington in Alexandria, Virginia. He has cooked alongside the greats such as Wolf Gang Puck, Chris Hasting and Dean Fearing! Chef James has been featured on fox 6, Nbc 13 and a regular on Abc 33/40. He was voted Hottest Young upcoming Chef and featured in Birmingham magazine and Birmingham Times! Chef James is one of the greats.

Visiting from California on Soul Food Sunday. The food was great, the vibe was nice; the service was great. There was seating which I did not expect.

“the roast beef was good. it melts in your mouth! i might have to come back just for that.” – my auntie.

The cream of corn was nice, creamy and sweet. A few of us found the macaroni and roast a bit too salty. I wasn’t a fan of the greens. The ratings are the average from a party of 9.

It was busy around when they opened. i think we waited around 30 minutes.

Excellent! Full disclosure, I had a little dental work done today so I could not fully enjoy my meal but I know from experience that it reheats well. I won’t tell you how far I drove just to get Refined 2Go but those brussel sprouts stay on my mind, and are worth the occasional trip across town. I mean, brussel sprouts are not even my favorite vegetable. In addition to the brussel sprouts salad, I had the blackened chicken Alfredo with broccoli instead of the spinach, and I let the chef talk me into the fried apple pie which wasn’t that hard of a sale. The pie was the only thing I could eat all of tonight (it was so good– tasty and light), but I did eat enough of the rest of my food to know I am going to be so happy tomorrow at lunch time and dinner! After three visits, I am a fan of this place. I like the concept, elevated cuisine that you can take to go, or eat in; there’s a small dining area. The people are super nice. Pleasant customer service. I had an issue on my last visit a few months ago. I called back to let them know and they sincerely apologized. That is huge for me. People don’t always get it right but when you mess up, an apology goes a long way. I appreciate that listen to feedback to improve. Okay, back to the brussel sprouts salad , it’s literally so good that I can eat it without the bacon jam vinaigrette but that stuff takes it to a whole other level. It’s honestly a meal but itself. I ate the pie before I could snap the pic. No complaints. Just try them! Thank you to the Chef and your team!

This place is the real deal! We dined in, and the service was fantastic. We had the Sunday Special which was chicken wings, pan fried potato cubes, braised cabbage, and black-eyed peas mixed with okra, all of which were absolutely exquisite. One bite of the food, and it became very clear that these cooks are true professionals with great attention to detail. The chicken was perfectly crisp and seasoned on the outside yet piping hot and tender on the inside. Even our extremely picky toddler enjoyed the food (yes, it was THAT good). And their old-fashioned sweet lemon tea was to die for. It’s a short drive for us, so we will probably be regulars here in no time. Can’t wait to go back. FYI, their menu is cyclical (i.e. winter menu, spring menu, summer menu, and fall menu). And then I believe their Sunday menu changes on a weekly basis.

UPDATE: Came back less than a week later and had two items from the Spring Menu, blackened salmon (which did not disappoint), and my wife had the Jerk Salmon Salad with fried plantains. Our son (toddler) had the My 3 Son’s Chicken Fingers and Fries… I had one of the chicken fingers, and it was absolutely delicious! And Fried Apple Pie for dessert… Mmmmmmm…….

If you live anywhere in Alabama, you owe it to yourself to get here. This place is the only reason I stop in this state. You will never have a single bad meal here. Also, doesn’t hurt that chef James is easy on the eyes. But seriously, the sweet tea alone. Mmmm mmm

When I went there they had excellent cabbage and yams,butter beans wasn’t bad either and my hamburger steak with gravy and onions was tender enough to eat with a fork easily. I will definitely come back and try other options sometime.

I recently visited Refined to Go an all I can say is that it was a truly amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious . All the food was good, but the dessert was heavenly. It really melted in my mouth! The service was also top-notch, with friendly staff that made us feel right at home. Highly recommend Regined to Go to anyone looking for a great meal! Refined to go is a great place to eat! We most definitely eat here again real soon.
Oh on Sundays they have soul food. Can’t wait to try them on Sundays.

Wow!! I really regret not trying Refined To Go sooner! I’m telling you, this was some of the best food I’ve had in the state of Alabama. We tried the chicken picatta and the Brussels sprout salad. Both were absolutely incredible! We’re already planning on what new thing we will try from there next week! If you haven’t been, go immediately! You won’t regret it!

Food was great, once we got it. It took just over an hour from time we ordered. Could really use an assistant chef for busy nights. Hadn’t realized they had relocated. Will definitely try them again, at a less busy time.
