Was in La Porte for the weekend and ran across Dicks Bar, so we stopped in for a drink, good service and friendly people. Waitress was telling me that it use to be a bank interesting history.

By the time we got there.. it was rockin and rollin.
We did find a table for our group and received service right away. Lots of great energy and music.. not to mention dart machines. We didnt get food but will save that for next time. Will definitely return!

Booked an offsite bar package with Howie from Dicks Bar. Absolutely wonderful from start to finish!. He made the planning of the bar catering so simple. He was very responsive and I could not have asked for a better bar to cater my wedding. Highly recommend!

In La Porte, Indiana, where the mundane often collides with the bizarre, there stands a relic of times gone by, a beacon of hedonistic pleasure: Dick’s Bar. Not your average watering hole, no sir. Housed in an old bank building, its walls whisper tales of yesteryears, of deals made and fortunes lost, now replaced by the clinking of glasses and the low hum of conversation.
The atmosphere? Electric. A heady mix of history and modern debauchery, where the past and present dance in a wild, intoxicating tango. And the prices? A defiant middle finger to the overpriced, hipster-infested joints that litter the landscape. Here, your dollar still holds weight, still commands respect.
The beer, icy as the heart of a loan shark, flows freely, quenching the thirst of weary travelers and locals alike. But the true soul of Dick’s Bar, the beating heart of this establishment, is none other than Howie. The owner, a character as colorful as the tales he spins, regales patrons with stories so wild, so outlandish, they blur the line between reality and the fevered dreams of a madman.
Now, a word of caution for the famished traveler: on my visit, the kitchen stood silent, a victim of the staff shortages that plague our times. But fear not, for the tales of their legendary burgers have reached even the most distant shores. And I, for one, will be back, ready to embark on yet another culinary adventure.
Dick’s Bar stands as a lighthouse guiding the wayward soul to a haven of cold beer, wild tales, and memories waiting to be made. Dive in!

Kat and Janet make great Alabama Slammers and took care of our large group. They both made us feel at home while we were away from home!

If central casting created a northern bar, it would be Dicks. Food was good, sassy locals, cute and attentive bartender. They have food, but it is a bar with food.

Went there on a Friday eve and the bartender, Nicki took care of us. Just want to say she is AWESOME!! Super attentive and makes the best cocktails! It does get busy on the weekends. It can get loud but that’s to be expected at a packed bar on the weekends. There is smoking inside. Haven’t eaten their food but I’ve heard good things about it.
They do smoke in there which is one star less for me.
