A friend visiting from out of town knows the Sarasota area and suggested dinner at this Japanese restaurant. The place is super authentic with Japanese decor, staff and cooks. We ordered Shrimp Tempura and Gyoza dumplings, the former tasting much better than the latter. We ordered spicy salmon and salmon Tempura sushi rolls and they were very good. Service was on the money. Definitely recommend if you love sushi!

When I arrived to the establishment the parking lot was filling up quickly. I arrived at 8pm I didn’t know but your party has to be seated by 8:30pm because of the closing time at 9p and I was there on a Saturday evening…..other days may vary. I had a party of ten, but thankfully they gave us until 8:35p lol because everyone was not all there. The establishment is very nice and clean. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The food is cooked right in front of you, so everything is cooked to order. The chef that was our cook was funny and nice. My family was drinking the Mai tai’s and they said they were amazing as well. I’m definitely going back to this establishment again and again soon. I would recommend this amazing place to anyone and everyone to enjoy.

This is a great classic restaurant. I’ve been coming here for 30 yrs and have never had a bad meal. The chefs at the tables are great, and they really care about there customers. I will continue going here for ever.

Delicious !!! The Geisha drink was not only an adorable souvenir to keep but delicious to the taste. Only downside, the seats were somewhat greasy but to be expected for the way its cooked. The chef-artist was great

In my opinion it is the best sushi I have ever tasted.
The atmosphere is like an old Japanese house, the interiors are very well cared for and it has unique setting details, with excellent tranquility and silence to eat and enjoy the whole experience.
The place is run by its owners and one of them is the one who prepares the sushi in a bar at the back of the room in full view of everyone.
You can eat at the bar or in the living room, the experience of the bar is very interesting because you can see the sushiman working all the time, although the bar is a bit small to support the dishes.
It has an internal garden as a decoration (you cannot eat there) very nice and that gives a lot of light to the living room.
The food is simply incredible, the shashimi table is prepared with fresh fish of the moment, which is constantly changing and is very abundant, fresh and with a variety of fish that I had never tried before.
A highly recommended experience for those who like good sushi prepared by experts

The only downside was waiting over an hour to be served once we were seated. The food was excellent and I was impressed that they included the mushrooms and bean sprouts standard on the order. Great food— if you can wait, it’s worth it.

Such a great experience. Good conversation as you sit with other people. The food is outstanding. I took a date and we ordered from the hibachi grill menu. I had the steak and scallops and my date had the steak and shrimp around 30$ a piece. Sound steep? Not at all considering you get soup, salad shrimp appetizer, vegetable stir fry, your meal and fried rice. The best part it’s made right in front of you. Get the Mai-Tai if you go I highly recommend it. Definitely will recommend.

Excellent hibachi place, great service, great atmosphere. The only reason I gave 4/5 is because the meal felt a bit rushed.
That being said, I will go again! I had fun and the scallop hibachi meal was delicious. Domo arigato, Jo-To!

Jo-To’s really is one of a kind. It puts the others to shame. Spend the same price and get better food and a show. Their drinks are strong, food delicious, and they can host BIG parties. They have a sushi menu too.
Beware: if you only tip with cash, and/or round up the CC bill enough, they will have the audacity to try and demand a service fee be added. I am going to start documenting my cash tip on the receipt and snapping a picture for future reference. Spending $150 every time, just know the cooks tip does not go to the servers, but some of the servers tip goes to the cook.
It’s mentioned no where that is their policy but then they try and force a fee when you tip the cooks not knowing.
