We started with the goat cheese mousse, served with arugula, honey, and toast. It was outstanding—buttery, creamy, and perfectly balanced with just the right crunch from the toast. A real highlight.
For mains, my wife had the Maine scallops, which were seared impeccably with a nice char and accompanied by thoughtful vegetables (sun choke, oyster mushrooms, beets) and complementary sauces like mole and roasted red pepper coulis. Everything was cooked spot-on, but the scallops themselves felt on the smaller side—five pieces, likely appropriate in weight, but visually and value-wise it came across as a bit underwhelming given the $48 price.
I went with the 12oz Black Angus Prime NY Strip ($65), and the execution was excellent: a fantastic crust (likely from a hot cast-iron pan), perfectly cooked interior, and topped with flavorful herb butter. The confit potatoes were golden and crisp, the asparagus spot-on, and the sautéed cremini mushrooms added nice earthiness. My only nitpick was that the steak wasn’t as tender as I’d expect from a prime cut at this level—not filet mignon tenderness, of course, but a touch chewier than ideal for the cost.
We shared the olive oil cake with pavlova for dessert, and it was beautifully done—a nice interplay of textures and flavors with almonds, berry coulis, lemon curd, and chantilly. Very satisfying finish.
The wine was a pleasant surprise: a 2020 Château Marjosse Grand Vin de Bordeaux for $52, solid quality and a great match for our meal without feeling overpriced.
Service was good, not great, and the food presentation was gorgeous (those plates really show the chef’s skill). However, a couple of ambiance notes detracted: the table centerpieces felt a bit cheap (simple glass box with a tealight), and toward the end of our meal, a strong cleaning/sanitizing odor wafted from the kitchen—appreciate the thoroughness, but it was noticeable and not ideal while eating.
Our bill topped $200, and while the cooking quality is easily 5-star (the chef and team clearly know what they’re doing), the premium pricing sets high expectations. The food shines, but minor inconsistencies in portion perception, tenderness, and those small ambiance/cleaning details kept it from feeling fully worth every penny.
4 out of 5 stars — Excellent food worth trying if you’re in Prescott and want an elevated meal, but be prepared for the splurge and know the experience is strong on execution rather than perfection in every detail. We’ll likely return to try more from the seasonal menu.
Everything was cooked perfect, seasoned perfect…
Very lovely experience
Such a great meal where ever little thing was curated to an exceptional level.
Can’t wait to come back again.
