Dinner last night in Tom’s River at Bonsai. Some of the best sushi and dumplings I’ve ever had. Crispy beef was a little too sweet for me but that’s just my taste. The ambiance and service were spot on. It was crowded but the food was served quickly and in a very orderly manner. I’d definitely come back to try more sushi options and appetizers.

I ordered lunch for my office for delivery, and I apologize that I did not take any photos of the delicious food. All items arrived in these adorable wooden boats.
We enjoyed the freshest sushi, tuna, tataki, orange chicken, pan seared wontons, and fried rice.
The food was so fresh and extremely tasty. I can’t wait to dine in at Bonsai!

Bonsai never misses. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done, and the vibe inside is just as good as the food. Such a chill, welcoming spot perfect for a casual bite or a night out.

They are very cheap. I ordered 2 rolls of sushi they only gave 1 spicy mayo it was mostly empty I asked them for more the manager started cursing me out. Their seseme chicken has no chicken it’s all dough. I feel bad writing this but it’s true. The fact that the manager was so rude makes me not feel bad for them

Trendy looking spot with not a very diverse sushi menu unless you want tuna salmon or tilapia on the sushi front. The Chinese portion covers the basics of
Chinese. The food lacked seasoning although I will say the chicken in the fried rice was very tender. The really aggravating part of this experience was the service. It was terrible 3/4 of the way through the meal the server began to help some people upfront and never came back until over almost a half an hour later as we were waiting to try and pay out check but could t get the attention of the server. The truffle toro was very good quality tuna and tasted great but the other tuna roll lacked flavor and tasted weird with the addition of salmon. We were ignored And for that, I still get charged 20% service charge? For what, poor service it shouldn’t be that way. We won’t be back.

Our group Shared the following menu dishes.
Portions were below expectations and the dishes were not your “typical” Chinese flavor.
1. House lo mein. This dish was edible and disappointing and unappetizing. Noodles were very thin. Also there was Not much of the “house” in the dish.
2. General Tso’s chicken. It was different and round balls. It was eh.
3 Crispy beef tasted ok.
4. Hot and sour soup was good
5. Wonton soup was bland.
6. Pastrami egg roll was very disappointing and a sliver of a regular size egg roll.
7 fried dumplings were ok.
8 salmon and cucumber sushi was ok.
We were so excited to go to a New Kosher Chinese restaurant but probably won’t be going back. Oh they were out of Chinese crispy noodles!
The space is lovely and lively and loud.
Service charge of 20% included and service was eh.
