Our waitress Kelsey was amazing!! She was able to get us a table with the most beautiful view of the mountains and boat dock. The food was incredible as well. I got the Dungenous Crab Truffle Mac & Cheese and my fiancé got Halibut Fish and Chips. Very flavorful and tasty!!

I have lived in small Alaskan communities and went in with low expectations but honestly expected a steak on the well done side if anything. It arrived undercooked on a medium rare order. Getting the server’s attention took another 10+ minutes. When I finally got up and tracked her down to report the situation, she replied “okay,” and went about some routine bar duties. Like pushing string. Not even a whiff of an instinct to make it right. I would have accepted a recook and paid for the meal, but the avoidance and attitude was baffling. I left still hungry but a small bit wiser.

Like others have said, service is sort of spotty, the waitstaff are pleasant but not real attentive, but then it is Kodiak so you need to manage your expectations, I did not review this the first few times because I wanted to get a feel for the day of the week and season. Crowds do pick up after May and things get tight at the bar and getting seated. I do not know why there are no fresh fish offerings or catch of the day but that seems to be the way things are in the Aleutians. Seared halibut is a dollar less than prime rib go figure. The decor is pleasing, the tables by the windows have good views of the harbor, there is an elevator for handicap access, and the bar has an adequate selection of beer and liquor. Expect to pay Aleutian prices but the salad was fresh and dressing tasty.

Typical hotel restaurant – with music on Friday nights. Food and music were just average, but the service was good. We had two waiters/waitresses serving us, but we did show up an hour before they closed. Cannot recommend anything particular on the menu, everything is average. The best part was all of the animal displays and decoration at the hotel entrance.

So… this place is probably one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
The king crab was good- nice 1lb portion soft and tasty
The steak I ordered medium and it was past well done- see photo – terrible- worse than our ship food. No taste or culinary skills
The view is nice
The worst part was our rude, stressed out waitress (female Caucasian kind of heavier set with glasses). We sat at the bar. My steak got dead cold and 20 minutes passed before she came to check how things were…
Here’s a hint: when your customer hasn’t touched his food and he’s eating his neighbors crab something probably is wrong.
Not to mention when my friend asked for another glass of wine her response was “yes you can… in 2 minutes..!!”
As if to say obviously I’m busy right now you’ll get it when you get it
Sometimes people are just in the wrong line of work….
Definitely wouldn’t go back and don’t recommend sitting at the bar, maybe service is better in the dining room?

The tanner crab here is the win as well as the dessert. Most all the other food was marginally good to ok. 6 people ate here twice and that really the only item that was great.

The fish and chips were disappointing. My son said they were normally very tasty. The menu has grilled Cesar salad but the waitress said they have never offered it despite being on the menu. The crab dip appetizer was scrumptious as well as the seafood pasta.
The wait staff are very friendly and the ambiance was charming with nostalgic picture lining the walls.
