GREAT FOOD, DRINKS, AMBIANCE & VIBES!
I had the most incredible experience at Catherine’s Restaurant! I’d heard so many AMAZING things about the delectable dishes, but nothing could have prepared me for just how PHENOMENAL it truly was. From the moment I walked in, I was transported by the warm, welcoming Caribbean atmosphere, vibrant, lively, and full of positive energy!
The food was ABSOLUTELY unforgettable! Every bite was bursting with bold, authentic island flavor (Jerk Bruschetta, Tropical Fruit Plate, Caesar Salad, Catherine’s Herb-Crusted Lamb Chops, Oxtail Lasagna, Oxtail, Sweet Plantains, Rice And Peas). The tropical drinks (Catherine’s Punch & Sorrel) were perfectly crafted, refreshing, colorful, and dangerously good! The live reggae music set the tone for the entire night, creating an electric vibe you simply can’t find anywhere else in the DMV.
I was happy we made reservations via “Open Table” prior to dining because the restaurant was PACKED, but we didn’t have to wait to be seated. Our waitress was knowledgeable, responsive, kind and full of smiles! Even the owner personally greeted each table with a smile and kind words!
If you’re looking for great food, fantastic drinks, and an atmosphere that feels like a mini island getaway, Catherine’s is definitely the place to be! I’m already planning my next visit, and bringing friends and family along!

☆Update: we loved this restaurant so much that we’ve already made reservations to come back, can’t wait!
Food we tried was superb! We are so glad that we stopped in for brunch on a Saturday. Brunch menu choices are excellent. Our server Eve was very nice and helped us decide what to choose on the menu since there was such a great selection.
Dessert was fabulous as well. We tried the Oxtail Lasagna, Bob Marley Wrap, Calamari, and Plantain Chips. All were delicious. Photos attached.
This was out first time enjoying this restaurant and we will definitely tell our friends and family, and return in the near future. ♡♡♡Also, while we were there, 4 separate tables were celebrating their birthdays, so this is obviously a favorite restaurant, and that alone speaks for itself. ♡♡♡ Recommend business casual dress or nicer, as we walked in after running errands, but they welcomed us which was nice. Definitely suggest reservations, although for us there was no wait at the time we arrived.

Ok 1st off the ambiance is beautiful.. there was a runway in the middle of the restaurant so im curious to know how that will be utilized. The service was just ok, some of the younger staff should be trained on better customer service but overall was good with our server. The food was ok my oxtail lasagna was good but the portion should be slightly larger for the amount of money it costs. My friends who was with me said their rasta pasta was entirely too spicy so 2 of them did not finish. The bread pudding was pretty good. But overall the score was for ambiance I feel if they work on the menu a bit more this will be a sure hit because its in a great location and the decorations are beautiful. I would come back and try something different.

I visited Catherine’s in Laurel, MD on February 15, 2026 and had a really great experience overall.

I ordered the codfish fritters and the Paradise Ital Pot with added grilled salmon. The fritters were good — mildly seasoned — but the sauce they paired them with really brought everything together. They were just a little greasy, but still very tasty.

Now let’s talk about that Paradise Ital Pot! Whew. It was like a perfectly seasoned “kitchen sink” stew — packed with so much goodness you could easily get a couple of meals out of it. Adding the grilled salmon was the perfect touch. Everything was seasoned beautifully.

Everyone at my table enjoyed their food and no one had a complaint. My only downside was the automatic 18% gratuity. I personally prefer to decide my own tip (I’m usually a 25% tipper for good service), so that wasn’t my favorite part.

Overall, I’d give them a 10/10. Just be patient — they’re new and getting into their groove. I will definitely be back!

This newly established venue offers exceptional cuisine, characterized by its rich and delightful flavors. While the service may be slightly slower than anticipated, we attribute this to their recent opening. The ambiance is sophisticated, and we particularly appreciated the elegant atmosphere. The mural depicting his mother, the live musical performance, and the pristine white tablecloths all contributed to a refined experience. We savored the jerk pasta, with mine featuring chicken and my wife’s prepared with oxtail. The codfish appetizers were also outstanding. We eagerly anticipate our return.

I visited Catherine’s a new Caribbean restaurant with a party of six to celebrate my birthday. Making a reservation is definitely important here, because this place gets packed quickly. The décor is beautiful and the overall vibe is wonderful. My first visit coincidentally was one with a DJ and comedy show with proceeds going toward rebuilding Jamaica. The food and drinks were good, but took sometime to arrive. This restaurant has loads of potential.

In providing honest feedback, I do feel like the space is a tad bit overcrowded. There were too many tables which left little to no room for moving or dancing. Service was good, but inconsistent. It took about 45 minutes to get our drinks, and we had to ask multiple staff members for water before getting any.

Overall, the food was good enough that I’d consider coming back once they figure out some of the kinks with opening a new-restaurant. This spot has great promise they just need to tighten up the experience.

My wife and I had our Friday date night at Catherine’s this week. We were excited to try a newer restaurant in town and were not disappointed. The ambiance is on point, with a live reggae band playing and a beautiful atmosphere. This was backed up with delicious food. We got the lamb chops and ox tail lasagna – both dishes were delicious. Our server was very nice and did a great job. You can tell they are still working out the kinks of being a new restaurant with the workers still learning the table numbers and menu, etc. but they were all very kind and up front about still learning the ropes. Definitely worth giving Catherine’s a try!!!

Catherine’s Restaurant in Laurel, MD (20707) has a lively, upbeat vibe that makes it a great spot for a fun night out. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which really added to the overall experience.

The food was good overall the steamed mussels were definitely the highlight for me. They were flavorful, perfectly cooked, and served with a delicious buttery broth that paired perfectly with the toasted bread. The jerk chicken was decent, but a bit dry for my taste.

The cocktails were absolutely delicious and well-crafted. While it’s a little on the pricey side, the atmosphere, service, and standout dishes make it worth it. I would definitely go again.

I hate to say I was disappointed during my visit for dinner to Catherine’s. The greeter at the front was friendly and we were promptly seated, but the dining area was extremely hot and stuffy when we arrived. It did eventually cool down, but it made the start of the experience uncomfortable. We also waited quite a while to place our order and the food took some time to come out. Unfortunately, the tray tipped over and two of our meals fell. I completely understand that things happen in the service industry, but I would have appreciated some form of service recovery without having to ask for it. On a positive note, we didn’t wait too longer for our new meals to arrive. The food and drinks were good. The rum punch was strong in the best way, and the oxtail lasagna was unique and delicious. Overall, the food was solid, but the overall service experience just fell short.
