Stopped here on my way through and it’s a nice friendly restaurant. Lovely lighting and pretty good service.
The food was pretty good, really enjoyed my starters rice and chips …my jalfrezi less so as there was no big veg in it as I’m used to and was quite spicy but not hot enough for me
And the atmosphere was ruined by a family that they set next to me domb scrolling with their phones on max volume … Highly annoying, no consideration for others and staff should really do something about it and tell them not play ANY sounds out of their phones!! … Zero manners or respect for others !!!

Decided to opt out of the traditional Xmas dinner routine this year and I think eating here will become my new tradition.
Food was lovely, service was amazing and value for money was phenomenal especially considering it was Xmas day!

Amazing food, thank you for the great hospitality. Stopped off after drive back from completing 950 miles Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride. Definitely a great way to celebrate with a lovely filling meal.

(Updated review 18/01/2026…still 10/10 from me!) Very busy and Another excellent evening at the Dhaka. Positive vibes as soon as you walk in! Service was top-notch. We didn’t have to wait very long for our starters and then main meal. The food was hot, and you could distinguish the spices and herbs within the meals we chose tonight…delicious! My wife and I felt relaxed throughout our evening, and the private seating layout is perfect. Look forward to seeing you guys again!! BIG thank you staff!

The food was nothing special. We ordered three different items, and all portions were very small for the price. On top of that, the manager’s behaviour was rude and unprofessional, with a bad tone when speaking to us. I would not recommend this place.

As a group of six friends who have made it our mission to visit every single Indian restaurant in Carlisle over the past 12 months, we can say with confidence that the Dhaka is our absolute favourite. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. We all unanimously agree that it’s the best Indian dining experience in the city. Already planned when I will be returning. The week day set meal deal is incredible value and you don’t find this at a takeaway, let alone a restaurant. . Forgot to take photos of our curry as we were enjoying it so much

Come regularly to this restaurant to enjoy the special deal of a starter and main. Food is very tasty and value for money. It’s always relatively quiet but male waiter is friendly and remembers us when we come. Would recommend people try it.
