Food: They have it all and also do it all well! My personal favorite are the buffalo wings, which are both huge and great flavor. You get a deal with your food and I have had to go home with food multiple times.
Drinks: Some of the best drinks and service for drinks, while also never disappointed with the service.
Overall absolutely a favorite for any sporting event that is close to the CTA
Atmosphere: They have a ton of TVs (including a massive screen behind the bar, which you rarely see at neighborhood watering holes) so there’s never a bad seat, and they play the game audio over all the speakers. The vibes are very welcoming: you’ll be high fiving with strangers-soon-to-be-acquaintances and singing Bear Down, Chicago Bears in no time.
Food/Drink: I’m originally from Western NY and having eaten a million Buffalo wings in my lifetime, I can say that Finley Dunne’s has the best wings in Chicago (and yes, I have eaten at Bird’s Nest). The hot dog is also great, I’d say it’s on par with any sausages or tubular-shaped meets that one could procure at Paulina Meat Market. Dicing up the tomato instead of serving tomato wedges on top of the Chicago-style hot dog is a stroke of genius. Pitchers of PBR are very affordable and cold as Lake Michigan in the winter. They pour a great Guinness as well.
Staff: This is Finley Dunne’s ace in the hole. I can’t say enough great things about the staff. The bar tends to fill up early for Bears games, but when my friends and I showed up with no tables available, the general manager of the bar was so quick to bring out extra stools for us to sit on. Our server, Victoria, was outstanding too. It never felt like we were waiting for our next drink despite a packed house; she came by very frequently to make sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy the game. The owners are super friendly as well.
Bottom Line: An excellent bar to watch sports with your buddies. Come for the game, stay for the terrific food and friendly people.
With TVs mounted on all four walls (plus the street-side patio) you can catch pretty much any game your witty heart desires while kicking back and enjoying the chill and lively vibes. Whether you’re looking for a local neighborhood staple or just a great bar to unwind at, Finley Dunne’s is the place.
And trust me on this… DON’T LEAVE WITHOUT ORDERING AN O’YEA Bomb!! You won’t regret it!
Edit: the celery is also good
