Soul food is defined as “a selection of foods traditionally in the cuisine of African Americans.” The term “soul food” came popular in the 60s but the origin of it is much older and can be traced back to Africa. Today, soul food is mainly cooked by those in the south. A typical soul food menu would consist of delicious and fillings foods. These filling foods were cooked in the old days by the slaves so that they would last through a long days work. Nigel’s Good Food has a soul food menu that consists of all these things in addition to many more. If you are looking for a place where you can get great soul food, in a relaxing environment, along with exceptional customer service, Nigel’s Good Food has a meat and three that just right for you.

Nigel’s in Hanahan, SC serves delicious fried chicken and sides
Reviews
The baked potatoes needed just a little more toppings (butter) and maybe some sour cream on both sides. They were beautifully presented.
The banana pudding was a trip back to my childhood! Make sure you order some!
Again, towards end of lunch rush so things were winding down.
Chicken tenders and fries with honey mustard”
No one at the front to greet, moved to the bar hoping to get some attention. Saw by a kitchen worker and still wasn’t acknowledged. No other customers in the building.
Fried green tomatoes were served over undercooked, grainy grits- no other topping listed was included (3 components missing)
Tenders were fine, fries were soggy and no seasoning. No honey mustard to be found. Disappointed for a nearly $40 bill.

**5 stars – Flavor, culture, and comfort with service at its finest.**
I ordered the fried pork chops, mac and cheese, and potato salad, which I’ve ordered many times before. What I received was honestly shocking. The food was not worth even half of what I paid—I’ve had better food from a gas station.
The mac and cheese was nothing more than a small scoop of plain noodles with a little cheese on top—looked and tasted like it had been microwaved. The potato salad was just potatoes and mayo, maybe some relish, but no flavor at all. The pork chops had no seasoning whatsoever—just breading and meat.
I truly wish I had taken pictures because it almost felt like a bad joke. All I can do is shake my head. I’m extremely disappointed and expected so much better from a place I’ve supported and enjoyed in the past.
Please do better.
Definitely somewhere you should stop by and give a try!
