What a pleasant surprise we got here about 2:30 on a Saturday and were able to get lunch pricing and the most fabulous lunch in a very short amount of time. The service was amazing and the food was delicious . I love rice noodles and they are very hard to find so the fact that they had rice noodles as an option a surprise delight. They were the most delicious rice noodles I could have asked for the chicken is hard to describe how delicious it is they may do a touch of panko on it prior to sauteing it not really sure. Most people do not serve old-fashioned egg rolls and these were especially good I am not a fan of spring rolls so I definitely enjoyed them. I had to have a bite of my boyfriend’s garlic chicken which was really good as well the food and the service is amazing. I wish I lived closer but I will definitely have to take the long way home and come by Wangs and pick up dinner in the future.

Me and my mom ordered takeout from Wang’s last week on a cold and rainy day. I decided to get the Mongolian beef and mom got the Moo goo gai pan both the lunch portion size. We also ordered a bowl of Hot & Sour soup and both of our meals came with a vegetable egg roll. Both of our meals were delicious with the soup being very savory and along with the dried egg noodles was fantastic. Our main meals were also just as delicious just what you’d like to have on a cold day! Fantastic food, service and atmosphere!

Their food is usually bland however the best dish I’ve ever had from them was their sweet & sour pork. It was amazing & kept me going back. However thats been removed from their menu…

Ordered take-out (shrimp pad thai, honey walnut shrimp w/ mango and peas, wonton soup, egg drop soup, egg roll). Shrimp entree came with fried rice. Had some bad food from other local chinese restaurants and came to the conclusion it’s just better if I cook this stuff myself, so I was worried about ordering so much food from a place I’d never tried before, but everything was delicious. Definitely gained a new regular.

I’ve gotten takeout and eaten in. First Pad Thai was so good… after that, I think they reheated old chicken. My daughter’s chicken fried rice was… interesting. The rice was ok, the chicken… it was curly and strange. It looked like shrimp and was so bland. I guess it’s hit or miss here.

Things I liked:
– pretty good eggrolls and pork dumplings. The edamame was AMAZING. The sesame chicken, Pad Thai, Beef and Brocoli, and Seafood Hot Pot were all quite tasty.
– Seafood Hot Pot came with shrimp, mussels, scallops, lobster tail, fish, and some veggies. The mussels, fish and shrimp were amazing; more on the scallops and lobster tail below…
– service was fantastic and our server was extremely kind
– Fortune cookies were good and actually contained real fortunes
– quaint place, wasn’t busy at all on a Sunday night.
Things I didn’t like:
– they overcooked the lobster tail like nothing you have ever seen. The lobster tail was more boiled than someone in the 7th layer of Hell. It was completely inedible, which is a shame because it’s LOBSTER TAIL. The scallops were cooked well but idk, they definitely seemed a little “sandy”/gritty
Would I go back?
Definitely!!!
Would I get the same thing?
Probably not… The waitress said that I was the first person she’d ever seen order the seafood hot pot… it was tasty but the lobster tail’s toughness was definitely a dealbreaker for this dish.

So I’ve have gotten their food about eight times now. Some people are “oh it was ok”. I’m not sure what happened there. I can tell you I and SO have not had a bad item yet. This last time it was wonton soup, hot sour soup. Pan fried pot stickers. House fried rice. Shrimp and veggies. It was all good to us, I would say it’s near the top for best Chinese I have had in Gainesville area.
2025 Update: Continues to be mine go to for local Asian food. We went there last night. Had shrimp spring rolls, pan seared vegetable pot stickers. Both were very good Dinner was Thai basil chicken and Glazed shrimp and walnuts, both were hella good. If your in the area definitely check Wangs out.
